California’s Gay Mormons are putting their foot down! After the Church of Latter-day Saints expressed “disappointment” over the state’s gay marriage win, the bent boys and girls of Mormon-based Affirmation have released a statement telling the church to butt out. [SF Chronicle]

What if Archie (David A.) was really a gay Mormon?

Affirmation is a worldwide organization for gay Mormons everywhere and the main organization asked the LDS church to butt out of the gay marriage debate in CA. It wasn’t just California gay Mormons who were involved. The LDS church was very influential in getting Prop. 22 passed, so Affirmation is hoping they’ll butt out this time. (Which is EXTREMELY unlikely.)

You can either be gay, or Mormon. Not both. Choose gay.

The LDS church spent millions of dollars in Hawaii fighting gay marriage laws there too. They don’t just take a benign, or high road approach to the subject. My family wonders why I’m so hostile to the church. It’s because the leaders are all Mr Rogers to your face, but Rush Limbaugh behind your back. They lobby for and pour money into regressive political mechanisms.
