Finland PM Mari Kiviniemi: Let The Gays Adopt Kids Already

Finland’s Prime Minister Mari Kiviniemi, who’s been on the job just two months and is perhaps the world’s hottest head of state, says she supports gay couples’ right to adopt. The country legalized civil unions in 2001 (but did not permit gay spouses to take each other’s names) and signed into law a ban on LGBT discrimination. And while a same-sex partner can adopt the biological child of his/her spouse, Kiviniemi backs the right to let wannabe gay parents adopt a non-biological child.

I thought most children were biological. Then again, you’d think those mechanical ones would be easier to adopt.

@Phil: *stage whisper* I think he was joking.

According to Wikipedia, Kiviniemi’s in the Centre Party. So obviously, she’s way to the left of our most liberal party. Sigh.
