We’re still trying to scrub Lindsay Lohan’s recent desecration of late screen actress/AIDS activist Elizabeth Taylor from our brains too, but get ready for another impersonation of the violet-eyed star by Tim Burton’s favorite leading lady.
Helena Bonham Carter (snapped by U.K. paper Daily Mail walking to her trailer on set) appears opposite Dominic West in the upcoming BBC drama Burton & Taylor, which looks at the fabled duo La Liz and two-time husband Richard Burton, as they starred in a Broadway production of the Noel Coward comedy Private Lives in 1983.
While Bonham Carter is a British brunette, she isn’t exactly the first actress who comes to mind as a dead-ringer for Taylor, but the 46-year-old Oscar nominee is certain to fare better than perennial train wreck Lohan.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.

The fact that they are making a movie about Elizabeth at her lowest point–her ill-fated reunion with Burton, that led to Betty Ford shortly after–speaks volumes.
The fact that they picked Bonham-Carter, who is often over-the-top in movies, pretty muuch confirms that this will not be a flattering look at Elizabeth Taylor.
I avoided Lindsay, and will do the same with this Helena.

This project sounds terrific. Helena Bonham Carter always does interesting work, and I’m absolutely nuts about Dominic West (The Wire, The Hours). Can’t wait!

Lindsay did a great job as Liz in the television movie I was surprisingly shocked but despite her legal troubles she is no worse an actress than half the ho’s out there
