First Look: I Love You Phillip Morris

Based on this preview trailer for the upcoming Jim Carrey film, I Love You Phillip Morris, we can only assume the French like their movie trailers to show them the entire film.

Steven Jay Russell, nicknamed “King Con” and “Houdini” for his many successful escapes from prison, is the anti-Milk: His is the story of a regular Joe who discovers he’s gay — at the same time he discovers he has a penchant for being a con-artist. Then, after being tossed into jail, he falls in love with his cellmate, Phillip Morris, played in the film by perpetual penis-flasher Ewan McGregor. The film is written and directed by the Bad Santa writer/director team John Requa and Glenn Ficarra and will premiere Valentine’s Day.

This goes for most foreign trailers. It drives me fucking batty.

But this looks pretty great…quirky as hell and probably doomed to fail (and there should be a comma after “I love you”) but I’ll be sure to catch that one. It’s a week before my ex-gay brother’s wedding, and methinks it will be much needed about that time…

Another film made by straight people with straight actors in plum gay roles. It’ll never fucking end.

Aw, that was sweet. Of course, there’s no need to actually see the film now.

Gregoire, I don’t think Ewan McGregor really counts as “straight” :)

Shane….come back. I love you.

I fully agree with you Paul Raposo. Why do we have to watch straight actors pretending to be gay?

Is there some kind of shortage of gay actors? Or is that we are deemed by Hollywood as being incapable of portraying. “how we really are?”

Another take on “love the sinner, hate the sin?”
We’ll do a movie on queers, but we don’t want any queers in it!”

Hey, I’ve got a great idea. How about we do a film about a straight couple…using gay actors and actresses?

Makes sense to me. ;-)

“Why do we have to watch straight actors pretending to be gay?”

Precisely because we also have to watch gay actors (particularly the closeted ones) pretend to be straight.

Until they come out, we’re going to keep watching straight actors pretending to be gay. And that’s not always a bad thing.
