FIRST LOOK: Stevie Nicks Gets Witchy on “American Horror Story: Coven”

Stevie Nicks, that is, has arrived on the set of the FX hit American Horror Story: Coven to appear as herself in an upcoming episode. Nicks’ presence has already been felt throughout the new season of the popular horror anthology as her music has served as an inspiration to Misty Day (Lily Rabe), the constantly-twirling, shawl-draped young backwoods witch who possesses the power of resurgence.

Series co-creator Ryan Murphy recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about Nicks’ guest spot in episode 10.

“She appears as herself,” he said. “It’s part of Fiona (Jessica Lange)’s ruse in that Fiona is trying to get the true Supreme to reveal herself because she needs to stay alive. So she tells Misty Day that the Supreme gets so many great things in life, like tickets to the Oscars and Met Ball tickets. So she brings Stevie Nicks in as a gift to Misty to prove to her that if she exhibits more power she’ll get that and more. Then the other girls come home and see Stevie and Misty singing and it starts them trying to move much quicker to prove that they are the Supreme.”

In an earlier episode, Misty announced that it was Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon,” which featured one of Nicks’ most haunting vocals, that inspired her to become a witch.

Murphy revealed that Nicks will shoot her scenes over a two day period and added “I know every person in the show is like, ‘I better be in that goddamn scene!’ It’s funny.”
