First Miley, Now Whitney Houston: Welcome to the Era of Pop Single Gay Beach Remakes

We’re not quite on the cusp of a Beyonce “Single Ladies” phenom, but the gays are starting to own the pop diva video remake landscape. (Though when did they not?)

There was Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” send-up from Fire Island’s gays, and now Whitney Houston is getting the same treatment for “Million Dollar Bill” from the gays in New Jersey’s Asbury Park. Adam MacLean, who plays Ms. Houston, tells Queerty the video was shot over Labor Day Weekend “to help her celebrate her comeback.”

Which begs the question: Where was everyone on Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face”?

Jeffrey Kummer (red)
Chris Lucia (blue)
Brian Matthew Maloney (lavender)

Not all gays are silly queens you know…this plays into homophobes vision of “everygay is like this”…

@alan brickman:

Don’t mind me, just getting in before all the screeching and crying about your internalized homophobia, sexism, stereotypes, and other such crap that is inevitably pulled out whenever someone dares to say this…

Yes, we’re forbidden ever to have fun, or to have sex. We’re bound by law to conform to a sensible, restrained, fun-free, straight-acting archetype to make ourselves as palatable as possible to our heterosexual masters, because we all have chips on our shoulders, and have something to prove…

The difference between the Whitney and Miley video sendups (for me anyway) was the Fire Island guys were having a blast and made you wanna jump in. This group o’ gays? Not so much.

Want the lady Gaga poker face parody? Check out NYC drag superstar Hedda Lettuce’S Botox Face on youtube. Very funny.

I love it. Especially with the lip syncing through the doorway.

Everyone is looking hot in their swimwear!

Alan, not quite sure what your ultimate point is. You find this silly but what? They shouldn’t have done this? Please elaborate.

But yeah…this song is bad.

This isn’t even gay this is just a bunch of guys dancing around like 10 year old girls. Now of course I expect to get a lot of reactions to my comment from all the other 10 year old girls that read this blog.

HA! I loved it! Does that make me a twinky queen who is short with no hair? lol.

They are having fun making a music video that they have the balls (pun intended) to post on YouTube. Who here can say that?
