Why’d you have to go crass and add “power”. Jesus, not every guy wants his ass rammed harder and harder. Some of us just want to enjoy the intimacy more. It was just really base, childish and crude to add that,

@Lvng1tor: Maybe because it was aimed at those who do like to get banged hard as you said. There’s nothing in this article that’s stopping you from experiencing sex how you want to.

@Lvng1tor: An article about bottoming in gay sex is made crass by the addition of the word “power”? Seriously, that’s what your going to complain about?

If you keep looking for things to complain about you are going to keep finding them.

Okay, I’m going to say this once and I hope you pass it around to the naked yoga people and the like .,. YOGA IS A RELIGIOUS PRACTICE!

How about “naked signs of the cross”? or, “Five Easy SIGNS OF THE CROSS To Make Power Bottoming More Enjoyable”?

Only in North America can we take an ancient, spiritual, life-affirming practice like yoga and turn it into something sexual, or worse, a diet fad!

it’s like most of North America still views the book / movie Dune as something revolutionary when, in effect, Dune rips on virtually every eastern religion that has ever existed.

      1) “Power bottoming” terminology issue: 100% agree with Lvng1tor.
      2) I think it’s a GOOD thing to have honest talk about how to bottom, including stretching.
      3) Borrowing some yoga posses to help with a specific task that you want to get good at is not a problem. Franco C.– If you think sex isn’t like affirming, then you aren’t doing it right.

I find it laughable that posters can complain about a word in a title
being crass, yet in many of their post, they themselves use crass words. Anyway,,, did people bother to read the title??
“FIve easy Yoga poses to make power bottoming more enjoyable.”
Who would bitch about that? It’s direct, accurate, catchy and right to the point. What it’s saying is. “For those who choose to power bottom, these Yoga poses can make the experience more
enjoyable. ” That’s just so plain ,simple and harmless.

@Tackle: Queerty added “power” to the title of Eischer’s article….yes it was crass and used to make it more extreme…hotter more animal and gives the idea that it’s about getting screwed every where. It was an article that was about healthy ways to expand sexual pleasure like an adult. If it was Queerty’s original article it wouldn’t have bothered me but they took someone else’s serious work and cheapened it for no reason. If you are going to just repost someone else’s work don’t add to it except in editorial.

BTW..I find it “laughable” to indirectly reference someone to insult or burn them but not go to them directly. I’ve used crass language, we all have, but I don’t quote you and insert words for my own or others cheap titillation.

This article was originally published in full in Philly Mag (see hyperlink at end of second paragraph). The term power bottom was originally used there.

“Upavistha Konasana B: Wide Leg Stretch

This is the “power-bottom pose” of yoga. It’s more of an advanced asana that will open the inner leg and lower back, and tighten that belly, giving you strength, flexibility and the ever important endurance.”

@Lvng1tor: Queerty did not add. (Power) “Power Bottom “to the original article. I did click on the link that @Pax: posted, and it was already there. But even if it wasn’t there, I think it would have been smart for Queerty to have added it. Being crass, able to titillate, and salaciousness , (but not lying) are all good. Considering that Queerty is a business, that survives by revenue generated in part by the number of hits/post it receives. So in that regards, as long as Queerty is being truthful, and is inline with the article, and conveying the priemis/point of the article, I think its all good.
And yes you have been crass, I have been crass, Queerty has and many of the posters here. Which I don’t think is bad.
      BTW: you’re a hott man.Beautiful smile and teeth. ..

@inbama: You’re right, he does take control just like a woman. Everyone knows bottoms and especially power bottoms are self loathing. To allow a man to emasculate you and ruin your insides in the process is really bizarre. But don’t tell the bottoms that. They’re supposed to believe they’re providing a service to the tops. haha!

Yoga as we know it today – a set of postures (asanas) combined with breathing techniques – dates back to around the grand old year of 1960.

It wasn’t until the 19th century that an Indian prince named Krishnaraja Wodeyar III produced something resembling what we call yoga: a manual called the Sritattvanidhi, which listed 122 poses mostly taken from Indian gymnastics. What really kicked-started modern yoga, though, was the influence of the Imperial British, who introduced Indians to the new exercise craze that was sweeping Europe at the time.

Later a guy named B.K.S. Iyengar came up with the idea of combining these exercise techniques with some of the teachings described in old Hindu texts like the Yoga Sutras and let the result loose on America in the 1960s. Since then, yoga fans have grown by the millions, with few realizing that they are practicing a chanted-up version of early 20th-century gym class.

      Power bottom away, yogis/gays.

I don’t understand the need for complaint. If you don’t like the article then either write your own or get over it and put it out of your mind. It has absolutely nothing to do with you unless you make it something to do with you. And Yoga (like with all religious/spiritual practice) may originate somewhere, but everyone changes and adapts to the world around them. If people want to have fun with it they are more than entitled to do so, regardless of how many people get offended. Grow up and be adults on the internet people.

@Pax: @Tackle: I do see where “power bottom” was used for one pose. I appreciate the civil…yet spirited debate and the insight that I missed.

You are right about how they label their posts. I’ve actually made that argument on here before about how this is a profit based business and they need to grab readers and comments. It worked!

Thank you for the compliment, it was very nice to hear.

@inbama: Not being sarcastic and not a recruiter either. To promote bottoming is just plain crazy. Millions of gay men are dead of AIDS, and twenty percent are HIV poz. It’s kind of obvious. A porn star just died this past week of AIDS. People need to stop saying condoms, lube, get tested, and if you test poz just take some pills. It’s not that simple.

@Matt: i’m always fascinated by the capacity for self-loathing shown by some in the Queer community.

Anal sex is entirely natural and primordial, and by far the best part of being a gay man. it’s awesome for tops and bottoms, including power bottoms who take control and/or power bottoms who prefer to be pounded long and hard. Anal sex works best with relaxation, lubrication and education.

meanwhile, those frot-cultists who wish to scare people away from anal sex can NEVER seem to sell their limited sexual menu on its own merits…small wonder, as most people of any orientation find the frot-cultists to be cases of neurotic arrested development.

must be very frustrating to go through life with a crippled sexual menu…always running bases but never scoring a home run!

I wonder if gay porn has anything to do with these guy’s issues. All the banging, the degradation, the poor bottom even rimming the top – this has nothing to do with anal sex in any long term loving relationship.

@inbama: what exactly is your point? how is it that “banging” and a bottom rimming a top equal to “degradation”? i know plenty of people who are bottoms who enjoy rimming tops simply because they enjoy rimming tops. they get “banged” because it’s something they find enjoyable. there’s nothing degrading about two consenting adults enjoying something you wouldn’t do yourself. next you’ll say that it’s degrading to kiss other men and we should all find love in women as god intended.

@Jeton Ademaj: Jeton, anal sex is filthy and degrading and has caused disease and early death in our community. Our sex menu is full, and we never need condoms, AIDS tests or Truvada. If more of you stuck with oral and frot, like my husband and I, we’d have a stronger and healthier community and wouldn’t be the laughing stock of the world.

@ashtonlh: Bottoms don’t enjoy rimming and anal. They do it to be liked, and maybe loved. To eat traces of feces and pretend your anus is a vagina and get banged like a woman shows they have some kind of deep rooted problems and sexual confusion.

lol Matt thank you kindly for that Exhibit A of catastrophic sexual neuroses that so informs the attitudes of developmentally arrested gay men like yourself. you CAN’T simply enjoy your hyper-limited sexual menu, you MUST attack the sex lives of other gay men…because you’re clearly pent-up and embittered at the limits you have set for yourself.

to see others flaunting limits that so haunt you quite obviously enrages and disgusts you.

too jealous and bitter to see yourself.

@MarionPaige: It may come as a shock to you but not everybody does yoga as a religious practice. Get over yourself. You’re obviously one of these snooty yogis who can look at their asses through their knees and looks down at anyone else. Maybe its a religious practice for YOU. Great. Don’t impose your beliefs on everyone else.
