I am pretty sure the gay adoption ban was repealed in 2010, not 2008.

@bystander – There is no Republican challenger in the district so he will eventually win in November.

Was he elected to fill a vaccany? If not it sounds like he won the nomination, as the article says he still have to run in a general election. Wining a nomination can be tantamount to wining the general in some districts but should be reported as being elected.
