Recent polls show the amendment's gaining steam, so these guys need all the help they can get and have concocted a matching donation mechanism.

Yep.
If you live in Florida — do something else, too:
Talk to your neighbors and coworkers.
Ask them to vote against this.
Ask them why they hate you. Explain that marriage is not about religion. It is about the right to visit your other half in hospital. It is about the right to keep the house after your other half dies. It is about money and property and inheritance. But it is NOT about religion. No church will be forced to marry any couple the priest doesn't approve. (But, if it does pass, OUR church will be forbidden to do things we believe.)
Then, if #2 passes, the next step will be to go to court. The amendment denies the protections of marriage to gay people. But, it does NOT repeal the "equal protection" clause. So, if they deny marriage to gay people, they also deny it to everyone else. Any court that actually reads the Florida constitution at face value will enjoin the state from recognizing ANY marriage whatsoever. The unintended consequence could be devastating to non-gay couples.
I give up. This is going to pass for sure, my neighborhood is filled with YES ON 2 signs, and the polls show that it'll pass too. It's difficult when both democrats and republicans in FL support Prop.2.
:-(
Sad, but we still have California – our only hope.
Vote No for Amendment 2, because ALL unmarried families will be affected!
