FAMILY VALUES?

For GOP Candidate Brad Staats, A “Traditional Marriage” Is One Where You Beat Your Wife

Tennessee Republican Brad Staats, who lost his bid for Congress on Election day, was arrested for hitting his wife over the weekend.

Bethany Staats called police on Sunday, claiming her husband slapped her across the face in their home in Hermitage, TN. According to a police affidavit, “Ms. Staats did have a red mark on her left cheek consistent with her statement.” Mr. Staats admitted that “during a verbal argument he pushed his wife down onto a bed then left the location.”

Do we even need to tell you Brad Staats ran on a family-values campaign? That he opposes same-sex marriage and a woman’s right to choose? That in his campaign he promised to defend “traditional marriage” and the “social values of the people of Tennessee.”

Probably not.

But we should tell you that, during that same campaign, Staat posted a picture of his handgun on Facebook, with the words: “Here is something that I usually have with me. Welcome to Tennessee, Mr. Obama.”

Welcome to Davidson County Jail, Mr. Staats.
