A good candidate, but the week is still quite young in DoucheLand.

This why psychiatric patients never improve. Psychiatrists truly have no f*cking idea what they’re diagnosing or treating.

No, it’s not that she was misunderstood that caused the problem–it’s that she was completely understood.

She is not a certified Clinical or Forensic Psychologist nor a Board certified Psychiatrist. Anybody can be a “psychotherapist” or life coach, or counsellor or spiritual advisor. “Dr.” Robi Ludwig got her doctorate on-line at California Southern University, a private, correspondence school that has dubious accreditation.

Funny, she claims she was misunderstood….isn’t it her job to be understood?

All of these people claim the same thing when they get called out for being douches.

Her problem was that she was understood perfectly and wasn’t appreciated.

Here’s someone who presents herself as a clinician but she can’t properly spell the word “assess” that is commonly used in reports by therapists and social scientists. Here’s what she wrote:

“My job on @judgejeanine was to asses several possible triggers for #ElliotRoger and his behaviour.”

What a quack but great talking head for FOX News audiences.

I’ve only read the first 40 pages of the manifesto and there is nothing even vaguely gay even hinted at in his formative years.

When I first saw the video my reaction was “why weren’t women attracted to him – he was certainly cute enough. If he were gay he’d be beating them off with a stick.”

There’s way more to this – if it was about rejection by women that was the cause why were his first 3 victims male?

Looking forward to finishing up the last 100 pages.

@Ron Jackson: referring to her as a douche bag is an insult to all douche bags. She is beneath contempt. Just goes to show that a degree has NO relation to intelligence or humanity.

To refer to this woman as an expert is ridiculous and shameful. She is only seeking publicity for herself. She insults the family of both the perpetrator of this crime and his victims. It is the gun lobby who are responsible for this and too many shootings. They push for the right to bear arms. But look at the consequences! The US is a violent society. I think a complete rethink is necessary so that ways to resolve conflicts by peaceful means should be the first course of action – firstly by the state and then by the individual as well as the community. Is reconciliation such a dirty word? Is it impossible for enemies to sit down at the table of brotherhood together? Remember we each have a right to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”, whatever that means to each of us – but not at the expense of our neighbour!

It is most unfortunate that a news program for the general lay public would have someone like this woman provide narrative about such critical incidents in the American landscape, because comments like these become embedded in the American conscience, when she allegedly just “rambles on” about whatever just “comes to mind”, because these things that are coming to her mind are harmful, they can cause many problems for people. Alleged experts like her, which I should point out that she is NOT an expert in Psychiatry, she does not have the rigorous training and education in that field that is required for anyone who practices in the field of Psychiatry and should not hold herself out to be an expert, but people like her have been known to make these blanket statements about latent homosexuality being the cause of all kinds of things, and it has lead to people like Pat Robertson claiming that all kinds of natural disasters, from a tornado to the eruption of a volcano to be caused by homosexuals having sex, which of course, to anyone who has a working brain, will realize is absolute nonsense. There is no way that two people having any kind of sex will set off that level of natural disaster, it just isn’t so. And for someone who purports to be an expert in a scientific field to sign on to such nonsense is just beyond belief. After more than 40 years of practice in psychiatry I am convinced of one thing only, and that is that you can find pathology anywhere and everywhere if you want to look hard enough. But does that mean that everyone on the planet needs to enter treatment? Of course not. But in the case of Faux News and this particular so-called Sex-Perv, I think I might make an exception, if yoou know what I mean…….

Because this was a FOX broadcast – her message reinforced what most FOX viewers already consider to be the truth – sadly. More than being generally sickened by her and her common pejorative arguments is the disappointment I felt for her words carrying to much weight off to the ignorant voting public. The behavior is not unexpected for FOX, but it is a sad influence.

Anybody familiar with Fox news shouldn’t be surprised at this. Fox news is basically a bunch of loons who bend the truth to support the most ridiculous right wing conservative beliefs. She is perhaps extra stupid since there is nothing to indicate he was gay and a tremendous amount of evidence that he was straight. If he was gay he wouldn’t be a 21 year old virgin. Psychotherapists who get their Doctorates through an on-line correspondence course from California South University I would imagine might not be admitted, let alone regulated. The on-line “university” is owned and operated by Zahid Saeed Yazdanie out of Pakistan. For $549 you can get a Doctorate. It’s a diploma mill

Over and above what this ignorant, know nothing so and so has to say- My take on it is this- Take one overly spoiled, rich kid who thinks people should automatically like him for who he is and what he has- mix with rejection by those he thinks ought to love and appreciate him for these lack of personality traits, the anger and resentment from not having the friends and admirers he thinks he ought to have, mix with his weapons of choice, coupled by the lack of attention by his parents and a psychiatrist or two as to what’s developing here- and you have the situation that’s the talk of all the news channels this week. His having repressed gay tendencies has NOTHING to do with it. He’s just another sad nutcase that nobody paid any attention to until he forced them to- in the worst way possible.

      May 28, 2014 at 1:01 am · @ReplyReply to this comment ·
    • dbmcvey

@Mark Jenkins: Not only does his having repressed gay tendencies have nothing to do with it–they’re not even evident. There is no evidence that he has any gay tendencies at all. I can only assume that people are saying he might be gay because he was sort of frail, almost pretty and had a soft voice. There is no evidence of gay tendencies and the speculation is groundless. If some kind of evidence presents itself that’s a different matter but at this point it’s all just baseless.

    • Bryguyf69

@Large Marge: I must say that a deeply closeted gay aspect also crossed my mind. And I have a background in human sexuality research. In my musing, it’s not being gay that’s the problem, but being deeply closeted. The internal conflict then manifests itself as a variant of “gay panic.” It’s just random musing so don’t hate me. And no, I have not reviewed Rodger’s case beyond what little I’ve seen in the media so it really its just random musing…

      May 28, 2014 at 4:11 pm · @ReplyReply to this comment ·
    • Bryguyf69

Some people have tweeted me that if his parents helped the kid get laid, the tragedy might have been averted. Along those lines, here’s a video of what happens when a father helps his virginal son get laid — and the psychological consequences. Your homework (or homowork): Compare and contrast with Ludwig’s diagnosis in a 500 word essay.

SERIOUSLY, watch it. Failure to do the assignment means a private disciplinary session after school… :)

      May 28, 2014 at 4:18 pm · @ReplyReply to this comment ·
    • dbmcvey

@Bryguyf69: As someone who supposedly has a background in human sexuality research don’t you think inferring anything about this kid being a sexually repressed homosexual based completely on cultural stereotypes is irresponsible. You state that you haven’t reviewed his case and you certainly never met with him personally so don’t you think makin any kind of judgement is, well, problematic at least?

      May 28, 2014 at 4:37 pm · @ReplyReply to this comment ·
    • Bryguyf69

@dbmcvey: Irresponsible? No, because it was admittedly a random musing and no pretense at being a medical diagnosis. I never pretended that it was any more accurate than the “is he gay” games gays play with celebrities. Read my post carefully. It was no more than an honest admission of what crossed my mind initially. And the rest downplayed this initial hunch. So how is that “irresponsible”? Quote the harmful section.

And please quote where I based anything “completely on cultural stereotypes.” Yes, quote me. And what stereotype did I use? It’s especially fascinating that yu used the absolutist word, “completely.” Or are you disputing that “gay panic” is real? It’s been recognized since the early 20th century.

Am eagerly awaiting to see you justify your accusation. With quotes.

      May 28, 2014 at 4:52 pm · @ReplyReply to this comment ·
    • dbmcvey

@Bryguyf69: “A random musing”. Kind of like what this woman did on Fox.

See, I believe there should be some evidence before you make claims about a mass murderer’s sexuality. Especially if you’re claiming some sort of expertise. But then again, you could have been a file clerk for resarchers on human sexuality so we should take your musings for what they are.

I’m not disputing gay panic claims–I’m disputing that they have any bearings on this particular incident. The killer never said anything about being attracted to men. This is all based on cultural stereotypes because he’s being viewed as effeminate.

I will continue to say that you, claiming to have some expertise and makin claims based on absolutely no information is irresponsible. I will make that accusation and I’ll stand by it.

@Ruhlmann: Me too. I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually discover than he was sexually confused, but due to mental illness, he was unable to resolve that confusion normally. In fact, my TV was on mute when his face came on. Even though I didn’t know the story yet, that gay vibe hit me. It was weird because I didn’t even find him attractive.

@dbmcvey: DRAMA QUEEN ALERT! Talk about fulfilling negative gay stereotypes. Go ahead, stand by it if that’s what it takes to fulfill your whiney existence. And it seems that you can’t read. You claim that @bryguyf69 used gay stereotype, yet couldn’t quote where he used it. Instead, you made up some BS about the guy being effeminate. Yet nowhere in the post did he say ANYTHING about effeminacy. Look like you’re projecting YOUR own stereotypical beliefs onto others. Looking at the other posts her, it’s clear that you’re a whiner who enjoys drama. Whatever. If feeling holier-than-thou floats your pathetic little boat of one, go for it. Sad.

@jockboy1986: What’s truly shocking is that the people posting here apparently didn’t take the time to find out anything about the person that they’re speculating on. This young man in his videos goes on and on about how he is so attracted to these blonde girls and how offended he is that they are with other men who are not as good as he is including many of different races. You all are as bad as this woman on Fox News.

If there’s anything Fox News has taught us it’s that if a lie goes unchallenged people start to accept it as the truth. The only time to start taking this speculation seriously is when there is actually evidence.

So, jockboy, if I’m a drama queen so be it. If you accept a lie–the shame is all yours–and that’s what’s sad.
