Kevin Hogan is an English teacher, English department chair and crew coach at the Mystic Valley Regional Charter School in Massachusetts. Or at least he was until FOX News “investigative reporter” Mike Beaudet revealed to the school that Hogan had starred as Hytch Cawke in porn films such as Fetish World and Just Gone Gay 8.
Now the school has placed Hogan on paid leave while they investigate his hiring to quell the school’s concerned puritanical parents. The reader commenters at FOX all have the same question we have: why harass a perfectly good teacher for his completely legal past? Had Beaudet already revealed the sordid pasts of all the state’s other public figures?
Is he fucking those kids, or making porn movies with them or talking about porn businness when he’s teaching at school ?! WTF is wrong with those FOX hyenas?! Destroying someone’s career just to have news material. It’s so against any moral and more wrong than playing in gay porn movies.

Yeah.. because in high school none of the young adults/teens are having sex, looking at porn, having sex, drinking, or smoking.. I know I wasn’t but majority of the others were. Porn isn’t anything new to a HS student.. hypocrites, even fox.
· Flag
Sad… Looks like the school will lose a great teacher. There have been 2 women here in NJ that have lost their job for the same thing. This is not just a gay thing.
But… This goes to show how important it is to protect our image on line. There are kids that have been arrested for “sexting” There are many Politicians that have been run out of office for things that they did on line.

This is the most unbelievable invasion of privacy I’ve ever seen. There should be an uprising against that FOX affiliate. This teacher, with a reported flawless record wakes one day to find a FOX reporter in his face and video clips of his porn work on the air? I’m speechless. Granted, probably not the best move on his part (to do porn given his actual professional career) but it’s very irresponsible and cheap ass journalism.
Seriously. There should be a massive outcry over this type of reporting by this FOX affiliate.

At least he wasn’t pretending to be Jewish on multiple sites over a period of several years or posting blatant anti-Semitic filth online like Professor Charles Rozier from Georgia. I can’t imagine how the University of Georgia (UGA for short) would tolerate persistent, deliberate anti-Semitism coming from one of their professors of philosophy (and a PhD candidate), Charles Rozier. Being an anti-Semite like Charles Rozier is pretty much the definition of career-ruining.
· Flag
@Henry: It seems like Charles Rozier was much more embarrassed about people knowing he wanted to fuck you than he is about being an anti-Semite. If this story tells us anything, it must be that gay sex ruins careers even faster than anti-Semitism these days, at least in conservative states filled with Southern Baptists like Georgia.
· Flag
@Charles: I think there is some middle ground between eunuchs and porn stars.
And @ Kevin, I don’t see how one should have an expectation of privacy about a commerically released film.
That being said, the teach deserves some sympathy, just not bad arguements in his defense.

Well, this is a local FOX outlet, not Don Murdoch’s flagship. All local news is to some degree sensationalist and salacious. It’s a shame and not really fair, but it’s hard to imagine he wouldn’t have thought this could come back to bite him someday. Is Mike Beaudet revealing that he is a connoisseur of vintage gay porn?
· Flag
disturbing. Yet, understandable reactions by the parents. Porn = crime in their minds. Porn = drugs, mob, whatever. Too bad for this dude. I hold nothing against people with backgrounds in porn, strippers, etc but unfortunately if he knew that he wanted to teach before he took the porn jobs, it probably wasn’t the most sound decision.
He will probably be fired. Hopefully, he can find another school that can look past his background since it seems he has a lot to offer in the education field, as per those interviews.

Didn’t make these movies 20 years ago, he made them last year and even set up a twitter page under his porn name, so it’s not like he was exactly hiding. The Twitter page appears to have been abandoned.

@MIKE HUNT: It’s interesting that unlike this teacher, who basically gave himself away, Charles Rozier took MOST possible precautions to hide his anti-Semitism. He created an elaborate personality, with a fake name (Jason Rothman), a fake address, a fake history, a different style, different personal interests, in short, a whole new person to pretend to be Jewish. This personality supposedly lived in Florida, moved to Canada, posted pictures of himself, had a black girlfriend (whose pictures he posted many times), and a Facebook page with under 100 friends. It boggles a person’s mind to think about how he got those friends: where they ALL fake accounts just like his? No one but a dedicated anti-Semite like Charles Rozier would make a few dozen Facebook profiles just to give the appearance that his Jewish personality actually existed. Mind you, this is only on one site. He has other Jewish personalities on other sites.

Fair’s fair. Women have had their porn pasts revealed so I don’t know why men shouldn’t. Why hide it? If you are truly proud of what you do as an individual, you’d stand up for it, not hide it.
Just because it’s male-male porn, it doesn’t mean you have the special right to have it not looked at by the media.
· Flag
I’m not really offended that his job is in question. I don’t find it offensive but I don’t run the world, its just the way things go. I’m not even surprised they made it a news story. But I would like for someone to smack that smug look off that Fox News reporter. He was all to giddy to confront that guy. This isn’t a murder or child sex investigation. It’s legal adult porn. If that fancy rich school needs perfect teachers they are free to fire him.
· Flag
Hmm. I doubt Fox News went scavenging for this guy’s porn past. Some one, probably a bitter friend, told Fox News about it. I bet all the details were hand delivered to Fox News. Fox News simply needed to verify the details for accuracy.
I am dismayed that so many of you are comfortable with this guy teaching kids. Moreover, this is a private school were parents are paying big money to send their kids. It’s not a good look for a teacher. I’m pro-gay and very anti-Fox News. But, I wouldn’t want him teaching kids. There is a reason why Kevin Hogan took a job with a private school (which severely underpays its staff). It’s because he couldn’t get a job at a public school. You don’t even necessarily have to have a degree to teach at some private schools.
Kevin Hogan did this to himself. There are many other professions that wouldn’t care about his background. Teaching is certainly not one of them.
· Flag
@John: So you’re saying that no other teachers have fetishes? I have NEVER had an English teacher discuss sex. I guarantee that there are active pedophiles teaching kids. That’s a much more disturbing proposition than a guy who had sex with another guy on camera.
In my experience (dare I say “back in my day” at 32?), kids don’t give a fuck what their teachers do in their personal lives. I never knew anything about my teacher’s private lives.
I’m also wondering if he was doing the porn to put himself through school to become a teacher in the first place. They said he was a “new hire”, and the “flawless references” could have just been the standard personal references.
Food for thought.

I’m all for liberal thinking, but the fact is, past behaviour is an indication of future behaviour and of current values. It wasn’t Fox that ruined this teacher’s career, it was him. He chose to participate in some serious hard core porn. Now, personally, I think that’s up to him, but it demonstrates a mindset that is perhaps a bit TOO liberal for most schools. He may be teaching English, but isn’t he supposed to be a role model?
If your kid is at school and they go to teacher for advice, you want to knowthat that advice comes from a mind with values similar to yours. This man clearly does not share those values.
Whilst I don’t in the least condemn how he chooses to make a living, I wouldn’t want him teaching my kids.

I know this guy (briefly) worked as a porn actor–a profession taboo even to those of us who love porn. But I think this whole story demonstrates the ridiculousness of heterosexist parents. Even in a state like Massachusetts–the first to pass marriage equality in the Union–those working class sons-of-bitches easily throw all ideology and politics out the window and pursue a puritan perspective. For all we know, that father with the accent condemning in the car could have seen “Ass-Fucked By DILFs,” and thought Mr. Hogan was very talented. These people are living in a fantasy world in which they don’t watch porn, in which their children aren’t having more sex than they are. Most damning, they are attempting to desexualize the homosexual. Why must we always be asked to apologize for our sexualities–especially by heterosexual parents–even in an age of alleged equality? I recognize that all porn actors must deal with such discrimination. But whether porn-related or unrelated, I can’t help but feel that any moronic heterosexual that fucks until a baby falls out feels that she has a right to try to make us apologize for our sexual identities.
· Flag
I think that someone should go undercover to see who was watching these porn films at FOX who noticed that a teacher in their jurisdiction looked like one of the porn performers. This kind of stuff just doesn’t go out and pop up on your doorstep. Someone has to have had an intimate knowledge of porn performers to say, “Hey, that’s so and so!” Let’s turn the tables on the investigative reporter who probably has a very used porn collection of their own.
· Flag
I think this is absurd. I hope he keeps his job and continues changing his students lives for the better. Who cares what he has done in his free time. Teachers have sex with their spouses all the time but it doesn’t affect their teaching! Ridiculous. I hope he makes it through this unreasonable inquiry into his past.
· Flag
You people are crazy. This man looks to be in his 40s. He didn’t perform in porn when he was young and innocent and not knowing better. I could possibly excuse that. He performed in porn a year ago! This isn’t an invasion of privacy as some of you are claiming. The porn was released for public consumption. I wouldn’t want him teaching my kids. I wouldn’t want my kids thinking that porn is an acceptable career to get into.
This isn’t because he is gay, it’s because he did porn. If he didn’t want the porn to come back and haunt him then he shouldn’t have made it.
· Flag
The people insisting that he should be fired for his porn past are no different than those who demand that gay teachers be fired for their gay present.
“He hooks up with strange men in leather bars and gets serviced in the parking lot! What about THE CHILDREN?!?!”
· Flag
@kylew: If your children aren’t looking to YOU to be their role model — you’ve already fucked them up.
I never once thought of a teacher as more than the person that assigns me my school / home work & who tells me if my answers are right or wrong. Not whether or not I should go into porn.
The big picture here isn’t that “his morals are going to taint advice he gives my kids” — it’s that he’s gay. Seriously, who still counts on teachers to guide their children’s values, outlooks, etc? That’s fucking ridiculous. What the fuck are these kids going to be asking him that relates to moral issues?
Porn isn’t made for anyone under 18 years old. If the kids see this guy in porn — already that’s a BIG parenting FAIL.
Just fucking ridiculous.

i do care if someone is an idiot and is indiscreet
the fact that he is so out there on media is asking to be busted…so if you are and you deny it? nope doesnt work for me…this guy is a liar
if you are doing something you KNOW you will have to deny whether its work related or personal…you must have needed to THINK about it? there are consequences whether we like them or theyre fair blah blah
like i said hes an idiot…he burned his job….not anyone who found out and used the info

I read this on another forum and thought it articulates my feelings about the matter:
“Doesn’t a willingness to fuck strangers on videotape for money suggest a certain level of mental instability not ideal in a teacher? Don’t we look to teachers and coaches, to some degree, to give kids guidance beyond just classroom instruction, and isn’t that ability clouded meaningfully by the teacher’s having PUBLICLY done something we would very strongly urge our kids not to do?
I like porn, I’m not homophobic, and I don’t think a porn career should disqualify anyone from 99.9% of jobs, but teacher might be on that very short list. ”
Personally I don’t want my children being taught by someone who has exercised what I consider very poor judgment. Someone who has demonstrated this kind of hedonism and has contributed to the image issues that plague the gay community, is not a person whom I believe should teach young children.
FOX on the other hand, is ridiculous.
· Flag
The only thing that should matter is, is he a good teacher? His past, his private life should not matter. As long as that life or his personal beliefs and opinions do not enter the classroom.
But I am afraid he faces a tough road.
God bless him, I pray he comes out of this whole.

Call me puritanical, but I would not want a porn star male or female to teach my kids. This has nothing to do with him being gay, he is a porn star, a middle-aged porn star at that…He obviously knew that it would not be a good thing to elucidate his employers about, since he failed to mention that he had done porn when being assessed for this new job. He also is somewhat ashamed about it, since he bold-faced lied to the reporter, denying the fact that he did porn…In the porn vid, he says he’s just trying out gay sex…He’s probably a self-loathing closet case with major issues…I would not want him teaching my children. Period.
· Flag
Yes that guy is bisexual, so what? Even though he did porn he should not be fired.
He’s a teacher, nobody says that if you’re a teacher and an LGBT person that you simply must be out to everyone-including your students.
I know teachers who are gay men, lesbians, and bisexual men and they are not out to their current students at all since their job is to teach and not talk about their personal lives to their students.
In some districts and in some schools, and even states if there’s no protection for sexual orientation they will still fire you, or your fellow teachers and even school administrators can harass you and nothing will be done about it.
This is why we need ENDA passed.
I don’t think he should be fired but if you’re doing porn and wind up working in a job like teaching don’t be surprised when it bites you in the ass.

HE ruined his career. Did he really expect that no one would discover his porn past? He should not have made the porn if he didn’t want it be discovered. I think something similar happened to a straight woman this year. The same goes for both of them.

Obviously he did not get hired for his “acting” skills. To get hired at the best school in the US he had to be a qualified candidate. He did nothing illegal, he is not a criminal, his past “professional” choice does not make him an immoral person. If his students ever see his porn then I would question the parents. I have many friends who are now teachers and trust me…teachers are NOT wholesome but they do their job. “Morality” should be questioned–have we forgotten about Penn State? There was no porn-star involved in that case.

This article is painted (or written) with a very broad brush. Truth to tell, this was reported by a local Fox affiliate. What is written here is akin to blaming NBC or any of the large networks for the sort of reporting done in an individual market. The author might have mentioned that local station so that any ridicule could be directed to the correct place, but of course that wouldn’t have been nearly as sensational.

I think the only people(s) in the wrong here is FOX News. It is so pitiful to destroy someones career just to create entertainment which they like to claim is news breaking. In this case it is unfortunate that the gentleman was in the adult-film industry prior to his current job, but if he is qualified and there are no current issues with him then what is the matter? One of the mothers said that the children love him- that justifies his intentions. He is not there to make porn stars out of the children, he is there to educate and clearly was doing something right until FOX came along. I just find it distasteful, imprudent, inconsiderate and just pathetic of FOX news to do such a thing.
· Flag
I see that I’ve read an article that is somewhat dated, but my two cents is this:
I hope that people who are commenting about teachers just teaching and not sharing their private lives are ‘of a certain age’. Back before Debra LaFave and Ms LeTourno, when our teachers were professionals who held themselves to a code of ethics that somehow don’t seem to apply today. It’s a shame that the few have caused the many to fall under a microscope, but it’s the way of the world.
That said, I would like to believe that the many professional teachers would rally their peers to hold to the code of ethics that applies to them. Perhaps the bad apples would be influenced or decide that teaching is not for them.
