Channeling Old Sounds

Frank Ocean Discusses His Second Album

At the Time100 Gala, during which he was being honored as one of the magazine’s most influential people, Frank Ocean talked to MTV about his second album. While his critically-acclaimed debut album explored new sounds, Ocean has his eye on the past for his new one.

“When I was making the first [album] there were a group of artists that I listened to, just for inspiration and to absorb the energies … This time it’s a lot of Beach Boys and Beatles and whatnot, so we’ll see how it trickles into the music and the final product. I can’t say much other than that.”

One can only imagine how those groups will influence his new album. Though, I hope he draws influence from one of The Beatles’ more psychedelic songs, “Tomorrow Never Knows.”

But Ocean wasn’t all business at the Gala. He took the time to hang out with Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon.
