Funny Lesbian Cracks Jokes For World’s Most Powerful Man

Barack Obama dutifully paid attention to Wanda Sykes as she joked about the president’s nipples and the vice president’s gaffes at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. She even managed to get people to laugh about race! But the real controversy were her punchlines involved Rush Limbaugh: “Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails. So you’re saying, ‘I hope America fails’, you’re, like, ‘I don’t care about people losing their homes, their jobs, our soldiers in Iraq’. He just wants the country to fail. To me, that’s treason. He’s not saying anything differently than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You know, you might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker. But he was just so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight. … Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that’s what he needs.” You’re feeding the beast, Wanda. Feeding. The. Beast.

Cue media questioning how appropriate Sykes’ jokes were. CNN’s Reliable Sources:

Wanda broke THE number one rule of the Beltway media hacks: Never say what everyone knows.

As for what the talking-heads and pundits think: fuck them. Seriously, Pat Buchanan? That needle-dick fascist?

The Washington media are part of the problem and that’s a no-brainer. Their round-the-clock, dog and pony show, 3-ring circus is devoid of insight, honesty, and integrity. We’ve already had another comedian tell us the same, and that was Jon Stewart.

Comedians in the US are the only people who will tell you the truth anymore.

Wanda rocks! I’m so proud of her for being true to herself and her comedy rather than stepping in line to be another beltway sycophant.

@kevin (not that one):

How true…it’s a sad commentary on the media when comedians are doing some of the most honest communication…guess I’m just glad that SOMEBODY’s doing it. It’s like the Middle Ages, where the “court jester” was the only one who could speak the truth. I personally think it’s partly leftover residue from 9/11 and the early Iraq war period, where to question ANYTHING the gov’t was doing was considered almost treason…another fucking legacy of Bush/Cheney. Good riddance.

Glad Wanda was selected, but I have to say I thought she was kind of hit-and-miss…best line was her ripping on Palin that pulling out isn’t birth control…Go Wanda!

@kevin (not that one): Excellent sentiments, and, spot on, she was a hoot, and, to see the Grand Wizard Pat Buchanan being peeved was well worth the truth being told!

I thought Wanda was hilarious!!! I loved the joke about the iPod!! Lady Gaga PWNS!! LOL!!

And as to CNN, that Washington Times lady seriously needs her head examined. I totally agree with beardy. Rush is dangerous in front of that microphone!!

A few hits, many misses. I didn’t think Wanda was funny. That tired played out partisan crap should be delivered by someone like Chris Rock with the talent to do it right. He knows how to offend while not alienating people and stay controversial.

It sounded like she was getting boo’s rather than laughs.

This entire presidency is one big comedy routine. She’s just another Obama pawn, as spaced out and useless as Melissa Etheridge. What a “joke” indeed.

@KyleR: Just being employed by the Washington Times is enough to warrant whatever opinion one of their running dogs may have as completely and totally useless. It’s a far-right, Moonie propaganda machine that makes Fixed (or Faux) News look like the Christian Science Monitor.

Reverend Moon’s newspaper is barely good enough to line a bird cage with and his pawns who write copy and wax moronic are the obvious droppings.

I think she was great. I think Obama didn’t care for her but I think Michelle loved her.

i love Wanda Sykes; i didn’t think she was inappropriate at all. She wasn’t *all* that funny, either though. (except for the michelle jokes — and good to see the 1st lady has a sense of humor!)

Obama’s (3rd party-written speech) was actually funnier than Wanda’s.

Wishing someone dead is NOT hilarious. Like many other mainstream Americans, we will no longer be watching “Adventures of the Old Christine” anymore.

For the President to laugh is disturbing…his partisan jokes indicated he is part of the problem with the polarization within this country and he needs to stop the adolescent behavior.

Finally, he also needs to learn HOW to order a hamburger before he panders to the press to follow him while he sounds like an idiot, “Uh, Uh, I’ll have one of those hamburgers, with beef and uh, with some cheese, uh, the cheddar cheese is fine and I would like some, uh, mustard on it, uh, a Dijon kind of mustard, maybe?”

Just who in the devil was he trying to impress….you know, most of us go and order our hamburgers…”I’ll have the Whopper.” “Give me a Big Mac.” “Aha, I’ll have an In and Out Double burger” and when we do go to a burger joint that allows “boutique burgers,” the ordinary American usually states, “How about a big burger with cheese and everything on it. Hey, do you have Dijon mustard?”

That was a stupid pandering which did NOT endear him to ordinary everyday Americans…but then again, he also sits and laughs at jokes wishing people dead.
