Gay Anchor Sacked For Being Complete and Utter Fuck Up
New York ABC affiliate newsman Steve Bartelstein‘s about to have a lot of time on his hands. Our media-obsessed sibs over at Jossip report that the gay anchor of Eyewitness News this Morning and Eyewitness News at Noon has been sacked. We’ll let them do the talking:
[Bartelstein] has been clashing with brass for some time now, we’re told, but “the last straw” was when he slept through a Good Morning America insert on Friday. GMA was covering the Bronx fire (that killed 10 people) and Steve was expected to chime in during the commercial break to plug WABC’s coverage. But he was a no show, and the network was forced to air two minutes of weather and traffic. Producers were pissed.Steve has a history of not showing up for work and, allegedly, a raging crystal meth addiction.
Yow! That’s no good. Especially because Bartelstein’s the only reason we watched ABC. Guess it’s just FOX 5 for us – sure, they bend their coverage to Rupert Murdoch‘s political will, but it’s like New York Post in television form! Plus, we j’adore the sexually ambiguous Arnold Diaz’s “Shame, Shame, Shame” segment. Pure brilliance…
His prior move to morning was due to his meth use and sexual harrasment of a male staffer. I smell yet another rehab/redemption scenario. Yawn.
Bartelstein was gay? WOW, how about that. Never did anything for me. Oh well.

I’ve heard stories around town about Steve Bartelstein. Big ol’ fisting bottom–but you didn’t hear it from me. I had hoped he straightened out his crystal use. Pity. He’s still hot tho.
That is sad, I just hope he can get help!

Steve is a great anchorman. He had terrific chemistry and interaction with Liro and Bill. Too bad these folks have to carry on without him and pick up the pieces.

This guy is a complete and total fuck. I had the misfortune of spending an evening with Steve last May. Whatever he was as an anchor, he was truly a raging addict. It was a sad scene. I hate to admit that it was a very eye-opening night for me.
I hope he finds help as much as I hope our paths never cross again.

OMG! Charles Perez is GAY? I used to watch him on KTBS in redneck Shreveport LA…..where there’s only ONE “official” GLBT bar! No wonder I liked him so much…probably for the same reasons I loved Steve….Steve, put down the meth, and come back to us!
