Gay kisses are the hottest trend in protesting, and now Israeli Jews and Arabs are getting into the action.
After the Israeli Ministry of Education decided to ban a book depicting a love affair between a jewish woman and an arab man, TimeOut Tel Aviv made a video with members of both groups hellbent on proving that love does indeed conquer all.
Some knew each other prior to the shoot and some were complete strangers, though all were committed to sucking face in the name of solidarity.
Some kisses are awkward, some are chaste, and some are surprisingly hot. Check out the video below, and pick out your favorite couple.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
We think the bear/hipster combo near the middle are just adorable.

Good….very cool protest ð???

Amazing protest! LOVE will always win….

This is awesome; we are all human beings regardless of race – the State, no matter what its feeble reasoning is, should not restrict racial interaction on all levels.
Kieran
Aww, that is so cute. I just hope Bibi Netanyahu doesn’t blow up the studio it was filmed in.
ProfessorMoriarty
Adorable and hot. Love wins!
Brian
These are NOT gay kisses. The word “gay” is a choice of identity. For these to be even remotely considered “gay kisses”, both men would have to identify as gay.
I think the gay community does itself a disservice when it misuses words. It has a history of doing so but now there’s a backlash.
joeyty
Now let’s see it done in Saudi Arabia.
Chris
The more I read about the actions of this right-wing Israeli government, the more troubled I am. What is so wrong with an Arab and Israeli falling in love?
joeyty
@Chris: I wouldn’t be so overly-critical. If a book could cause terrorist attacks in schools, better to err on the side of caution.
Hussain-TheCanadian
@joeyty: That’s not going to happen, its a sexually repressed society – besides why are you talking about SA?
@joeyty: That’s not the reason the Israeli ministry of education gave, they said they don’t want “Assimilation” to happen, which is a backward, disgusting, and anti-liberal thing to say.
Hussain-TheCanadian
@Chris: They fear that Jews will “Assimilate” with Arabs, and as a result the State would lose its “ethnic” identity – Also there are a list of groups who cannot get married in Israel including gay couples because the Rabbinate will not allow it.
The Israelis should fight back against this racism and bigotry.
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: That’s a cover for them fearing terrorist attacks on schools. If people will kill over a drawing of Mohammad, then…
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: I’m mentioning Saudi Arabia as a reminder of the countries where such protests are allowed (or not) in the MidEast so the Queerties keep their perspective.
Hussain-TheCanadian
@joeyty: You do realize mix marriages in Israel itself do happen right? I’m not sure I understand the “terrorist attacks” angle – could you please elaborate?
Also the ministry itself never talked about terrorism, they talked about assimilation – Did they also mention terrorism and I missed it?
@joeyty: Would it not be an insult to Israelis to equate them, or at least have the rest of the Western world, to expect the same out of them, as we would of Saudi Arabia?
One is supposed to be a Democratic liberal country, while the other is a monarchy – Like equating Canadian society with that of North Korea, it doesn’t jive my friend.
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: Yes, mixed marriage, inter-marriage goes on all the time in Israel. So the authorities don’t care about a schoolbook. The real reason is to prevent a slaughter by Muslims. (Jews are disappearing the world over through inter-marriage, anyway, and…Israel doesn’t care). They also claim they let the Hasidim out of joining the military so they can study religion, but we all know the real reason is because the Hasidim are so inbred they’d do nothing but interfere with everything. ///////////////////So what if Saudi Arabia is a monarchy ? It’s still an Islamic country. Is an Islamic country, in ANY form, gay-friendly ? Whether it’s a secular Democracy, a monarchy, or a military dictatorship ? And I doubt you’re my “friend” in any way shape or form. You’d do high kicks of joy and ululations watching me die a painful death.
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: The 2014 Peshawar school massacre, where you killed 100 + kids. That’s what I mean by terrorist attack. Let Muslims stew over a book about a Muslim man screwing a Jewish woman, and what do you think the authorities in Israel fear ?
Alan down in Florida
Was I the only one who was unable to “Spot the Jew” in the six couples? As a Jew myself I would have thought I could but I couldn’t. Guess my gaydar is stronger than my Jew-dar.
Hussain-TheCanadian
@joeyty:
In the end, you are giving me your own opinion to why you think the book was banned, while the actual ministry that banned the book gave us the real reason. You can hide behind “terrorism” to justify bigotry all you want, luckily a huge chunk of the Israeli people will not stand for this.
Also it does matter if a Democratic liberal country wants to be treated with those standards, or wants to be treated with the standards we use for Saudi Arabia.
@joeyty: I killed 100+ kids? Who is this “you”?
I actually don’t think Muslims care if a Muslim Arab man screws a Jewish woman, or Vis Versa – Arab woman marry white, black, Latin and Asian men all the time.
Hussain-TheCanadian
@joeyty: They fear assimilation, the exact reason they gave – they were pretty blunt about it.
http://original.antiwar.com/avnery/2016/01/11/fear-of-assimilation/
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: Pretend what you want. But I know what they are and I know just what you are. And I hardly care what happens in that part of the world anymore, even if mankind has to see the Pyramids dismantled by ISIS. Anyone can look up photos of the Peshawar massacre and other school massacres you carried out from Russia to Africa. So let’s stop pretending.
joeyty
@Alan down in Florida: I guess you think all Jews look like Woody Allen.
Hussain-TheCanadian
@joeyty: Oh honey i’m not the one pretending; anyone who reads our exchange, and simply googles the events regarding the book banning will see who is “covering” and who is reporting facts.
As for you equating me with terrorism, that is quite unfortunate, bigoted, and disgusting. If you are a Jew or a liberal, you should be ashamed of yourself.
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: Not a Jew, nor a liberal. I’m a homo, though, so why would I want anything to do with Muslims ? It’s not Baghdad circa 1000 anymore. you should be ashamed of YOURself. You belong to a religious cult that murders again and again and again….all in the safety of a non-Muslim country. But you won’t be ashamed, like most psychopaths.
Hussain-TheCanadian
@joeyty: Quite honestly I don’t know what you are talking about; you kind of ventured all over the map now.
“Why would I want anything to do with Muslims?” What is that responding to exactly?
I belong to a religious death cult? That is your claim, which is quite nasty, and you want me to be ashamed of myself? You’re the one who is a bigot, and not an intelligent one either.
I was born in this “non-Muslim” country, its my country, and I don’t view the world as “Muslim” and “Non-Muslim” – you on the other hand obviously do.
I guess that’s the extent of our conversation; you calling me a terrorist, and me calling you a bigot – Good night honey, you need to live outside that bubble of yours and join the real world (blows kiss).
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: Sure ain’t your “honey”. And you’re the one in a comfy Canadian bubble who never had to witness real Muslim murder like I did. So you can live your life protected by Canada and pretending somehow you Muslims are the wronged ones these days.
Hussain-TheCanadian
@joeyty: I think i’m more informed than you are, so I don’t think i’m the one living in a bubble; i’m not the one painting a Religion of 1.6 Billion with the same brush.
Intellectually speaking, past personal trauma is understandable, however it does not excuse your bigotry and overall lack of coherence.
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: And you most certainly view the world as Muslim and non-Muslim. More specifically, Muslim versus non-Muslim. Every one of your statements proves it. You see it as much like that as the Mumbai mass murderers every time they pulled the trigger on a non-Muslim or blew the heads off people at the Paris Bataclan theatre, then went home and danced for joy. And you call ME rude ?
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: You know nothing. You live protected by Canada. Let’s send you to a Muslim-majority country and see you walk hand in hand with your boyfriend.
stanhope
@Brian: @Brian: hear hear….absolutely true….the meaning of words is important and particularly in a political/protest context should be used with precision.
Hussain-TheCanadian
@joeyty: I think you’re mentally ill; I think it’s cruel of me to intellectually engage a mentally ill person.
Let it be known to anyone reading this exchange to see for themselves what kind of person joey is, and see for themselves who is unreasonable and lives in self exile away from reality.
@stanhope: I have, with my ex, in Kuwait.
Hussain-TheCanadian
@Hussain-TheCanadian: sorry stanhope, this was directed to joey.
dwes09
@Hussain-TheCanadian: Mixed Marriages DO NOT occur in Israel. ALL marriage in Israel is religious. Marriages preformed elsewhere are recognized in Israel, including same sex marriages. But the only marriages that may be performed in Israel are those sanctioned by the 9 recognized religious communities there.
dwes09
@Alan down in Florida: Don’t know what kind of Jew you are, but you might take a look art the ethnic background of Israel. 60% of Israeli Jews are Mizrahi, meaning they essentially ARE Arab. Even more identify as Sephardim. Israel ia not a majority Ashkinaz as Florida is.
As a Jew, I loved the fact that you cannot tell which of the couples is Jewish and which is not (I’m not saying Jew/Muslim, as the Hebrew title of the video says “Jews and Arabs”, and a significant percentage of non-Jewish Arabs in Israel are Christian or Druze.
dwes09
@joeyty: As I replied to Hussain (who is clearly more intelligent and reasonable than you seem to be!), no, intermarriage does not go on in Israel at all despite their legal recognition of ALL marriage, same sex or interfaith, performed elsewhere. Many Israelis go abroad to get married as they cannot do it in Israel. Additionally, the Hasidim are given deferrals for essentially the same reasons Quakers are here, but there is a strong movement to end that deferral. They are no more inbred than Jews in general are, which is considerably less than some other populations. They are, however, not well equipped to deal with the modern world and the complex situations it presents so they would likely be a problem in the military.
You seem to suffer from the same peculiar malady the right wing does: an inability to tell the difference between your imagination and the real world.
Hussain-TheCanadian
@dwes09: I stand corrected; thank you for the clarification, you are right – only if the marriage is performed outside of Israel, say between a Jew and a non-Jew, the state will recognize it, but it cannot be done within the Israeli state.
That is shocking, I did not know that.
Hussain-TheCanadian
@dwes09: I thought Israel would at least have civil marriage, but now I do remember a lecture given by Dr. Shlomo Sand talking about this very issue.
joeyty
@dwes09: Your stating that the Hasidim are no more inbred than other Jews discredits the rest of anything you say. You should look up the subject. And in NYC it’s quite well-known.
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: Speaking of mental illness, let’s see you throw an art gallery showing of depictions of Moses, Jesus, Mohammad, Vishnu, and Buddha having sex with their male lovers. Which religious group do you think will come shooting up the place?
joeyty
@dwes09: http://gothamist.com/2011/12/22/rabbi_inbreeding_happens_but_that_d.php
Hussain-TheCanadian
@joeyty: So your measure of acceptance is to display pornographic images of men many people consider Holy, and see how the public reacts?
Is this a serious proposal? Is this the best your intellect can produce?
dwes09
@joeyty:
I take back my comment from the other thread about you not being as mindless or crazy as Atticus! In what way exactly is a discussion of a trial on a blog (as opposed to a news outlet) the equivalent of an empirical study in a peer reviewed journal? Do you even understand the difference? That you used nothing but your imagination to come up with a false statement regarding marriage in Israel (and presented it as fact twice!!) implies you don’t. That you seem unable to tell the difference between a gay Canadian (and obviously modern) Muslim and Wahabi Jihadists reinforces my observation. Simply put, one person’s assertion that NYC Haradi were inbred, denied by another, is neither science, nor proof of anything. Either provide proof that specific genetic diseases peculiar to Jews as a whole are more common among the Haradi or accept that you are deluded. Given that the conversion rate among the Haradi is higher than among less orthodox branched of Judaism, and given that the population feeding into them has a high level of outbreeding, you really are incorrect. Additionally, modern research has thoroughly debunked the notion that marriages/breeding more distant than first or second cousins is all that dangerous.
I forgot that you had clearly displayed a right wing bent in this thread (vis-a-vis your islamophobia). And if, in fact, a gallery show of religious figures having gay sex would be most likely to bring out armed Muslim extremists, how EXACTLY does that implicate all Muslims. Do the murders of employees at women’s health clinics, or the bombing of the Oklahoma federal building, or the takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge by armed evangelicals and Mormons indict all Christians? Did Jeffrey Dahmer’s actions mean all gay people are serial killers? Do you know what logic is, or understand that populations have variation?
And you have the audacity to tell me my understanding of biology and human genetics undermines my actual facts regarding marriage in Israel! It is as if you actually want people to laugh at you. Don’t call others loony, when you clearly have problems yourself.
dwes09
@joeyty: And as for why this book has been banned (thus inspiring the video) I would certainly believe the Israel ministry of education before accepting what you imagine is the “real” reason. Assimilation, outbreeding, being submerged in an overwhelmingly Christian (reality alert: there is no such thing as Judeo-Christian culture, the two faiths are barely related at all philosophically, intellectually or theologically) culture are the largest threats to the survival of Jews today. Try asking Jews about that rather than gazing at your own navel!
dwes09
@Hussain-TheCanadian:Going through previous comments, I suspect that is the best his intellect can produce. Myth, hearsay and imagination are indistinguishable from fact with that one.
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: An absolutely real proposal. As we’ve seen more than once, only your group comes shooting because of cartoons. And you call ME mentally-ill.
joeyty
@dwes09: You mean…..Muslims HAVEN’T gone shooting up art galleries and magazine offices because of cartoons of Mohammed ?
joeyty
@dwes09: http://failedmessiah.typepad.com/failed_messiahcom/2011/05/stop-lying-rabbis-tell-haredim-789.html
Hussain-TheCanadian
@joeyty: You are intellectually bankrupt; there are crazy armed people on every continent. In case you were not watching the news, there was a suicide bombing in Turkey and in Indonesia where Muslims and Christians were murdered in cold blood by Daesh.
So your delusions of “Muslims vs Non-Muslims” are exactly that, delusions.
P.S.
What time is the rally?
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: No, I know Muslims kill Muslims all the time. Certainly killed more Muslims than non-Muslims over time. That’s your own business. That has nothing to do with you wanting to kill me (and my kind) too. What rally ?
Hussain-TheCanadian
@joeyty: See your premise is beginning to lose coherence again; you need to go back and read what you wrote above and see that you are contradicting yourself.
A sad state of affairs really that you are part of the gay community – then again, Daesh is part of the Muslim community unfortunately, and we have to fight their insanity, no different than fighting your craziness.
The Trump rally silly.
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: I never said Christians were Islam’s primary target. I bet you’ve killed more Hindus, Pagans, and Buddhists than Christians.
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: I agree with Trump’s hard stance on the practioners of Islam but I don’t know if I agree with everything he stands for. Not enough to go to his rally. Not yet.
joeyty
@Hussain-TheCanadian: “fight their insanity” ? You don’t fight it, you basically encourage it. Enjoying their brutality while living in safety yourself in Canada. Maybe that will change as more become aware.
dwes09
@joeyty: “You mean…..Muslims HAVEN’T gone shooting up art galleries and magazine offices because of cartoons of Mohammed ?{”
What exactly is your point?
Does the fact that Muslims have protested violently in certain countries MEAN that the
Israelis are lying about a reason for banning a book? Is your uninformed speculation somehow a more reliable source of truth about Jews and Israelis than we are ourselves? Again you show a tenuous grip on reality.
joeyty
@dwes09: I should have asked : have Muslims not gone on several school massacres around the world ? And, yes, it means the Israelis are lying. Or at least not being completely truthful. The same way they’re not truthful about the reasons for not wanting Hasidim in the military. (All you have to do is see the way they behave on the subway and you know there’s inbreeding going on). Your grip on reality is about as solid as Atticus Bennet’s.
joeyty
@dwes09: That’s what I believe, anyway. But we could just agree to disagree on this one.
