Gay Count Dead at 44

bismarck.jpg
One of Germany’s leading families are mourning today. British police found Count Gottfried von Bismarck, a descendant of German unifier, Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, dead Tuesday.

Though no official cause of death’s yet been reported, openly gay Gottfried had a “well publicized history of drug use”. One of the most public reminders of his party boy ways came when 22-year old Olivia Channon, the daughter of an MP, overdosed in Gottfried’s Oxford bed. New Zealand Herald has claims Bismarck died of a heroin overdose:

The scandalous life of Count Gottfried von Bismarck, playboy descendant of Germany’s greatest statesman, has ended with a heroin overdose.

The 44-year-old count was found dead by ambulance men who broke into his Chelsea flat.

They were called by the estate agent selling the property, who had been unable to contact the count for several days.

Drugs equipment was found near the body.

A friend of Bismarck’s described him as “great charisma and great magnetism”. Unfortunately, he couldn’t curb his attraction to drugs.
