Gay Cowboys Show Off Their Moves

Last night's episode of NBC competition America's Got Talent, which we once tried - and failed - to watch, featured the DC Cowboy's, a gay Western dance troupe.

"Think Brokeback meets Broadway," quipped one member. And judge David Hasselhoff loved it, giving the boys a green light, saying "Save a horse, save a cowgirl!" Apparently he's not familiar with Brokeback.

The group now heads to Vegas. This means, of course, that we'll get another shot of sitting through Talent. Thanks, DC Cowboys!

Hasselhoff said "save a horse, ride a cowgirl". He was either drunk or drunk with lust, hard to tell.

Yeah, what Tom said.

Also, I like this show. There have been quite a few talented people showcased here, including some of last year's finalists: Butterscotch, Cas Haley, + Terry Fator (winner). Give it a fair shot.

On topic, I liked the idea of the DC Cowboys' act + their energy is great. But they need to tighten up their choreography. A lot. It's a cute act but isn't polished enough for a million dollar prize.

Also, the show has had a quite a few interesting drag acts. This year's Britney Spears impersonator makes a really pretty chick.

And, Queerty, shame on you for not featuring a clip of the 23 y.o. hotass Elvis "tribute artist", Joseph Hall.

I was never a big Elvis fan, but dude could love me tender anytime. Rawr.

If they are any indicator then at least DC's population is improving! :P

I agree with fredo777. It's a cute act, but once the novelty wears off there isn't much left.

And on great past acts, The Glamazons were my fave.

Yeah, I remember The Glamazons; they were pretty cool.

Shallow me…but I kept expecting them to start taking off their clothes halfway through.

Ooh-chugga-ugga….

Were they even aware that the DC Cowboys were a gay group ?

I'm pretty sure they were; the act was VERY gay and they even mentioned Brokeback mountain. I think I heard some boo-ing, too, so I'm pretty sure that homophobic segment of the crowd was well-aware …

DC Cowboys performed at Rhode Island Pride in 2004. I slept with all of them!*

*In my dreams.

I did the same thing at the Closing Ceremonies of Gay Games VII in Chicago — well, actually, who could sleep with all that "yee-ha" going on? But that's when I first fell in love with them!

That was crap. They didn't even really dance, just pointed their arms here and there and shook their asses. DUH.

I agree with #15. And, they weren't even cute…….

I agree with Bitch Republic too. It was dull, uninspired and really amounted to little more than synchronized walking, hand waving and butt shaking. They should take a cue from So You Think You Can Dance, DWTS, or even Step It Up and Dance and incorporate real dancing. No lifts, no partnering, no tricks, no gymnastics, no thanks.

BootsieGee said it. From the clip there wasn't much choreography, and like some, I expected them to start stripping half way through. The dance scene from "Adam and Steve" was a whole lot better.

It's hard to criticize the choreography when we saw so little of it. The director, in his wisdom, was showing us screaming audience shots, Hasselhof's drunken, uber-hetero reactions, closeups of boots and hats, shots from backstage–everything BUT the dancing.

Nah, I don't think there's that much cutting + wiping in the world. The dancing just wasn't that strong.

I do agree that The Hoff goes above + beyond to appear uber-hetero, though, including the "save a horse, ride a cowgirl" line (we get it, you like girls) + his recent appearance on Craig Ferguson's show. That annoys me.

Cute act but they really don't have enough movement in their hips, it's oddly stiff looking :s
