Gay Florida Mayor Is a U.S. Senate Hopeful

kevinburns2

“North Miami Mayor Kevin Burns, the city’s first openly gay mayor, is not ready to end his political career. Burns, who will be forced out by term limits in May, is making a bid for the U.S. Senate seat occupied by Republican Mel Martinez, who will leave next year. Burns, a Democrat, confirmed that he’s running — but declined to comment further until the official campaign kickoff Tuesday.” [Miami Herald]

No. 2 · Hint

Crist versus Burns? Old school closet versus new school gay? Dare to dream.

This would actually be genius to run him against Crist (if he decided to run), it would keep Crist’s sexuality in the spotlight. Forcing Floridans to chose between a pathetic, closeted gay man and a successful, open, honest one.

Go Burns!!
