And Eric is pretty underage (though somehow that hasn't stopped many of the show's other characters from getting into bars and being served alcohol) so I doubt we'll be seeing him at any of the local gay dives. But the more serious flaw is the network's unwillingness to put any teeth into Eric's announcement that he's gay: We never get to see the action. And no hint or reference to actual sex is ever made. It was only one kiss, and even that we don't see on screen. It’s hard to consider Asher as openly gay, considering that he’s still a closet case. "Pretty White Teens Fucking" a/k/a <i>Gossip Girl</i> isn't precisely the venue I have in mind when I awake, envisioning 'greater visibility' for us, but with the feeble showing on the other soaps for young gays (think 'Nuke'), and a decent actor in the role, I hope the girls stay out of the picture and the kid remains in upcoming storylines. Whether he's attractive to <i>some people</i> is quite immaterial when we can count on one hand the number of young gay characters on ALL OF NETWORK TELEVISION. As long as we don't get hung up on how often he engages in some PDA, he's a good addition to a needed demographic. big deal! eeeww!
