Joan Jett is not openly gay any more than Anderson Cooper is openly gay. Let's not spread misinformation.

Ha! What I would pay to be there…

But alas, I'm stuck in Canada. I guess I'll just have to go and get gay married. Life's tough up here!

Joan Jett is gay? That's the best news I've heard all day. (Although apparently I should have heard the news five years ago. Whatever.)

Joan Jette is an open lesbian, she's been out for like 6 or 7 years. It's not new news. She's at all of the major lesbian events and shows up with her gf, Carmen Electra.

@Dale:

Dale, excuse my rude compatriot.

Daniel, if you're familiar with how we got marriage equality you would know it's mainly because we're damn lucky to live under the system we do.

And also lucky that when the Constitution was repatriated in the 80s the premiers were too busy poring over what they thought were more important terms of the constitution to pay attention to Trudeau's Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

If ANY of those politicians had known how much that document was going to change our society they would have squashed it like a bug… our liberal society notwithstanding.

That said, even Alberta had the opportunity to refuse same sex marriage under the Notwithstanding clause… and they did not do so.

But come on. You know things are not perfect up here either. I know it's difficult living next to the states sometimes, but ultimately we are sort of in this together and we need to support, not put them down.

@Mark M: Do you have a source? because I can not find anything anywhere where she says that she is gay.
