I'm glad you guys report stories like this, but I wish you would turn off the "cutesy" language when you do. It's a little unseemly to talk about persecution and torture and then use the phrase "frightened fagalas." It makes it look like you're making light of the situation, which I'm sure you didn't intend to do.

The Bushies have turned a blind eye and voice to the torture and death squads aimed at Iraqi Gays...they could get it stopped...after all the Americans finace Iraq and the mess we made there.....sadly, from everything I have read about Saddam's regime, it was as tolerant of Gays and Lesbians as can be expected in the Islamic world...since Hussein ran a secular government and had a live and let live attitude concerning the GLBT community....he was a monster in many ways but what has replaced him is anarchy and death squads..and the goals of the clerics to wipe out all Gays and Lesbians (as in kill us off)

Simon, you said it best.

What are 'American sounding' people doing in a building where Iraqis are torturing gay activists? It sounds like there is collaboration between American torturers and Iraqi torturers. No surprise there.

How is this the Americans' fault?
