A Poughkeepsie, New York man, 41-year old Patrick J. Gillease has been charged with attempted first-degree assault second-degree menacing after getting into an altercation with 56-year old John V. Kloepfer over Kloepfer’s alleged relationship with a 22-year old named Adam Malavase.
Gillease apparently confronted Kloepfer about Malavese before brandishing a .38 revolver and firing at Malavese. Luckily he’s not a good shot, thus giving Malavese and Kloepfer a chance to tackle him and wrestle the gun from his vengeful hands.
Police have now taken Gillease into custody. He can’t free himself because, sadly, he doesn’t have $50,000 for bail. It’s worth noting, we think, that all three men live together in a house at 67 Vassar Road. Only in Poughkeepsie, kids…

That whole Upstate,NY area..Poughkeepsie, Binghamton, etc has 2b the most racist, homophobic region in all of the northeast. Binghamton used 2b the KKK’s headquarter till recently. I laugh every time I see the “Appalachian ER” skit on SNL cuz it’s just like that(I worked for 10 yrs in ER’s in that area)!!!
@Patrick: Thanks for adding your side of the story. Sounds like your ex and his new lawnboy deserve each other. You’re better off out of that since it was going nowhere. Actually, this sounds like about half the straight relationships in America. LOL
Best of luck to you.
I am someone intimately involved with this case, and I can tell you that there are always mutiple sides to a story. The media typically only presents that which will generate the most publicity for itself, as was done with your little article here. As we approach the third anniversary of this very unfortunate event, one thing can be stated very clearly: three people were involved in this altercation, and all hold the blame. This case was largely one of self-defense, and all charges but a lesser one were ultimately dismissed. May I also state that it is appalling for your organization to print the exact address of the parties involved. This is not typically done with reputable news organizations in order to protect the victims, and you open everyone up to additional torment by printing this. Try a biased and fair approach to your reporting in the future.
@Legal Scholar: Great article, Legal. I know you meant to type “multiple sides to a story” and “an unbiased and fair approach,” but the teacher in me couldn’t resist these corrections. It’s a shame there is no spell-check on the internet :)
Who cares about this story anymore?! It happened years ago for crying out loud! It doesn’t even belong online at this point. Leave these people in peace. They obviously have been through enough heartache already!
