Gay Man Says NYPD Broke His Ribs, Called Him A ‘Faggot’ At Pride

Screen Shot 2015-08-20 at 8.54.13 AMNew York City police officers tackled a man to the ground as he was exiting last year’s Gay Pride Parade, yelled homophobic slurs at him and broke his ribs, a federal lawsuit claims.

Jacob Alejandro, 25, allegedly jumped over a police barricade on Christopher St. in the West Village around 7:30 p.m. on June 29, 2014, and was soon after forced down to the ground by cops, injuring his elbows and left arm, according to the suit.

That’s when an officer allegedly yelled “Get the fuck up, you faggot!”

Then things got weirder.

An unspecified number of cops doggy-piled on top of Alejandro, who is gay, and transported him to the Sixth Precinct, then eventually to Bellevue Hospital.

Later, he was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct and was released.

Then Alejandro, a Brooklyn-based health educator, took himself to Coney Island Hospital where he was diagnosed with fractured ribs.

All charges were eventually dropped, says the suit, which also seeks unspecified damages.

“I have seen too much bias and bigotry from NYPD officers, and I hope my case makes a difference,” Alejandro told The Post in a statement Tuesday.

His lawyer, Baree Fett, said, “There is something particularly vulgar about discriminatory anti-gay conduct from police officers working at a gay pride event. This lawsuit is about obtaining a measure of justice for Jacob.”

The NYPD did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.
