Ex-Adult Star Jake Genesis Apologizes for “Short but Intense” Gay Porn Past

jake-genesis-2Gay porn star Jake Genesis has quit the game due to his religious beliefs and has also issued a formal apology, in which he denounces his former career as one that “destroys families, relationships and lives.”

According to Queer Pig, Jake took the porn industry “by storm” last year when he shot his first scene for Kristen Bjorn, later going on to work for fellow studios Raging Stallion, Lucas Entertainment and Men at Play, among others.

Describing himself as “the porn model you can take home to mom, ” Genesis apparently lives in Madrid, has a degree in philosophy and served eight years as a police officer.

Then a few months ago, Genesis quietly deactivated his Twitter and Facebook profiles, as well as his website. He explained his decision to pull out (#DickShtick) in an email to Queer Pig:

A little less than a year ago, I began a short but intense career in the adult entertainment industry. There were lots of factors that lead me to that place at that time. Many of those factors I am only now beginning to understand. What is undeniable is that, despite the factors which contributed to that decision, that decision was my decision and I am responsible for having made it. I am responsible for the effects and consequences of my actions. I was not forced, coerced, or tricked into doing pornography. I was not economically destitute or without other options.

jake-genesis-3I had low self-esteem, I was depressed, I felt I had nothing to lose and I did not fear or care about the consequences of my actions. My choice was arrogant and it was selfish. I hurt people as a result of the choice that I made. I hurt my family. I hurt my friends. I hurt my brothers and former colleagues in the police department in which I served and the religious order of which I was a member. I hurt the men with whom I filmed pornography through my participation in the industry and I hurt the countless people who have seen what I did and who will see it. I take full responsibility for my decision. I accept the consequences, both known and unknown, of my decision. With a contrite and broken heart I ask the mercy and forgiveness of those who were hurt by my involvement in the pornographic industry.

The aptly named Genesis goes on to cite his deep, religious beliefs as the main impetus for his premature emancipation and hints at plans to document his “journey of reconciliation, forgiveness and redemption”:

Anyone who has followed my career knows that I am a Catholic. As such, the path to reconciliation with God and with the Church is relatively clear: through the ministry of the Church God’s mercy is infinite and His love with without limit. Forgiving myself for what I have done and finding the humility and the words to seek the forgiveness of others is another, more difficult matter. Part of that journey will involve investigation how I lived 8 months of my life in absolute contradiction to who I know I really am. That investigation will likely involve writing about my experiences.

He adds that his only advice for anyone who wants to be a porn star is simply “not to do it…ever,” even if that means having to work at “Starbucks or the GAP.” Ironically, Genesis appeared in pornos with both of those titles.*

Meanwhile, we understand how Genesis publicly knowing a bunch of dudes in the Biblical sense may have hurt those closest to him, but whatever damage was done to his “countless” voyeurs was purely self-inflicted. And with pleasure.

*Not really

Every person is different and he had an epiphany to quit the business now though he could have worked for many more years even being an older model due to his popularity. Not sure if they are still together but had it not been for pornography he would not have met Seth Knight who I thought was his bf. Best of luck to him on his personal journey although the issue of whether to do pornography or not rests with the adult individual.

He is well known in the industry for being a nut case and a pathological liar. His ego was so out of control that he thought he would be the next huge star, and as it turns out, not that many people even cared. So now, he has to turn all anti-porn and anti-gay spouting Catholic bullshit to “get even” with the industry that scorned him. Weird basket case, but hopefully we have heard the last from this loser.

This is why you should never ever trust a gay Christian. If he’s not there already, he’s certainly going to go “ex-gay” and start publicly trashing gay people at every opportunity and on every media outlet that will have him. It’s exactly where all gay Christians end up.

I love porn, but I can’t help but think that it’s the worst decision a person can make. Sure there’s those few well rounded individuals who know what they’re doing and why they’re doing it, but for the most part people usually have other reason that cloud their judgements. Not criticizing it, but merely remarking a reality of the industry. As I said before, I love porn, but I’d never consciously do something like that. Then again, who knows, maybe I would. I don’t know anything about this guy, but I wish him the best. Hopefully he finds whatever he’s looking for.

According to the QueerPig site that is linked to from the bottom of Jake’s website, Mr. Genesis is a member of the cast for Lucas Entertainment’s “Original Sinners”, a film w/ costars like Adam Killian + (since he was just brought up) Paddy O’Brian, which isn’t even released yet. I kind of figured that he stopped doing porn a while back before this public apology:

Odd, I remember an on line posting where he was glorying in his tattoos, built body, and video career – and it was not that long ago. In any case, those films he did make will live on long after his fame does. It seems to me that while he was riding high, he enjoyed it all. Perhaps his wooden stiff performances and a decline in demand have something to do with it. And I am sorry but anyone with that many tattoos and that obviously seriously built body is going to have some problems living a pure Christian life.

As a former porn actor (Tre Xavier), I can understand Jake Genesis’ decision to a point. I grew up Christian, but it wasn’t so much my religious beliefs that made me quit doing studio-based porn. It was my values in general. Also, I wasn’t hurting for money, and a Black man in gay porn, you don’t make as much as White porn actors anyway, but that’s another article Queerty should get into.

Anyway, when I got into porn (2005) gay acceptance was not as mainstream as it is today, so porn was the only place a question male could see some reflection of himself. So I got into porn partially to let males questioning their orientation know that if they realize that they’re gay that there’s nothing wrong with them. However, things done in the industry (like gay-for-pay) showed that the studio-heads could care less about that. EVEN THOUGH by being gay, they lived it themselves.

So whether the people in it are consenting or not, I agree with Jake Genesis by saying that the gay porn industry as a whole does PLENTY OF HARM. Regardless of whether you’re producing it, directing it, screwing in it, or watching/learning from it. It’s the reason the sexual habits of our community (like racial expectations and BDSM) are as screwed up as they are.

And those that refuse to see it, thereby spewing the most hate on Jake Genesis are those among us who want to get off regardless of whatever and WHOever’s cost it comes at.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever met anyone who works in porn, but it seems like a career motivated by low self-esteem.

The man who is quoted in the above article — whom I never heard of until now — sounds confused. However, there’s one thing which we should find reassuring: he isn’t quoted as apologizing for being gay.

Jake Genesis isn’t the first porn star to say weird things after ending his career. After marrying and having children, Linda Lovelace wrote two books which produced as much controversy as her so-called acting career. No witnesses supported her claims of being brutalized and coerced, so it was never clear what really happened in her case.

Voyeurism and exhibitionism are common human impulses, and some people use poor judgment with both. That said, we should expect things to get a little bit weird.

Depression, shame, and guilt – religious predators have a extra strong sense of smell for these victims.
      They’re easy prey.
The thing is, religion isn’t a cure. It actually cases people to wallow in guilt and shame. It’s a pacifier like drugs, alcohol, or gambling, which in the end will only multiply negative feelings.
You want to alleviate guilt, shame, stress – go out and do good, altruistic deeds for the world.
Bowing to the world’s largest child sex trade – the catholic church – and giving them money and obedience doesn’t help anyone, including oneself.

HA HA HA, talk about the 5 Steps of a self hating gay.

Step 1. Build your ego by working out and looking at yourself as physically superior to others.

Step 2. Get a bunch of tattoos and look at yourself as superior to others.

Step 3. Get into gay pron because it pays better then being a trainer and allows you to continue to feed for ego.

Step 4. Start doing meth in order to blur the reality that you are not all that your ego tells you you should be.

Step 5. Become a born again nutbagg christian, blame self esteem for everything gay and denounce everything not christian like.

Funny thing is, his image and videos of fucking ass or getting fucked by dick will have a life eternal on the internet!

i am so sick of these “holier than thou” asses who think they’re so important that they have to tell the world how sorry they are for being______ (in this case, working in the porn industry/gay.) really? you’re opinion is so sought after that you need to publicly “apologize” for something that isn’t important to anyone else so that you can feel assuaged of your prior actions? does that make it go away? does that make you “non-gay” or erase your film “career?”

“poor self-esteem?” perhaps in your case. and it continues to compound if you have to apologize for being gay, having gay interests or working in a perfectly acceptable industry that paid you for your time and, quite frankly, orgasms. the porn industry, as well as all sex work, is arguably not only an acceptable avenue for revenue but fills a basic need that all of us have: the need for sex and sexual gratification. all of this christianized (read: any organized belief that bases it’s philosophy off of death, sin and elitism,) moralistic bullshit isn’t going to save you or anyone else from your fears or the world from it’s woes- it’s just adding to them.

i accept that the sex industry is filled with those who have poor self-esteem, drug and alcohol (and other) abuse, looksism, sexism, racism, agism etc. along with a host of other problem but these very basic human foibles and realities appear in all lines of employment. to damn a whole industry is not only childish but dangerous to those who choose to do such work.

the world needs humanizing, loving solutions based on individual freedom with respect for the greater good. the time for fear as the basis for rule has got to stop. we all have to face our fears but to force others to comply with our own choices by deciding what’s best for those others is not the answer. if it were, since this selfish way has been status quo for thousands of years, the world would have evolved way pasted this shit along time ago.

go in peace and take care of each other.

Meh, let him enjoy HIS church. Meanwhile, I’ll enjoy the video of him getting his hot ass nailed by Christian Wilde’s beautiful penis (as can be found on pornmd, I advise you go see!)

Wow he’s really messed up & troubled. I feel sorry for him. He needs a good therapist, not a church.

Ladies and gentleman, the new John Paulk. One question: Was he gay before getting into porn or was he Gay For Pay? If he was gay, then watch him pull a Paulk and blame his poor life choices on his sexual orientation.

@Merv: I take exception to this comment. I’ve been Christian (Catholic) for 26 years and have been gay for more. Everyone handles issues differently and shouldn’t be criticized for it. I’ve had my issues with the Church, but in the end it will be God as my sole Judge, not the Church. I know plenty of people you shouldn’t trust that don’t go to church. I think Jake handled the entire situation very poorly. That will be his Cross to bear and no one else’s. For the record, I go to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church twice a week. I wish Jake and everyone the best of luck and long life. May God bless you all! Yes, God blesses gays too.

Jake feels bad about upsetting his family and friends. Sad. What about his upsetting his co-workers in the adult entertainment industry by bowing out? I think they count: God doesn’t dis-count them because of their profession in porn.
