The HIV-positive porn star, who performed in both gay and straight flicks, did not transmit the virus to anyone else, the California health clinic that first alerted the industry says.
Referred to as Patient Zeta, the unnamed performer tested positive Oct. 9, and all other performers were immediately “quarantined” (read: barred from making new films). After testing — twice — all sex partners of Patient Zeta’s colleagues and the people those colleagues had sex with both professionally and personally, the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation concluded Friday there was no retransmission of HIV: “It has been established that Patient Zeta acquired the virus through private, personal activity and there was no transmission of the HIV virus from Patient Zeta to anyone else,” reads a statement.
That might not be good enough for Los Angeles County’s public health officials, who say the AIM clinic has yet to hand over its test results or methods for verification.
Meanwhile, it looks like legs are about to start spreading again in Porntown: Following voluntary shut-downs, porn studios including Vivid Entertainment and Hustler are heading back to work.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

When this HIV scare broke, you should have seen the homophobic comments coming from many porn performers in the “straight + bisexual female” side of the industry. Directors and bisexual females were saying that bisexual men were disease risks and should not be permitted to work in their industry. These comments were totally disgusting and hypocritical.
I also thought that bisexual male performers – who are quite common in the “straight + bisexual female” side of the industry – were being scapegoated, even by porn media organizations like AVN. Overall, quite despicable.
I thought it was quite ironic that promiscuous bisexual females were criticizing and demonizing bisexual men. Honey, you’re a whore. You have no right to take the moral high ground.

Our long national nightmare is over.

So as everyone with a brain and whose work in porn probably already knew, “models” get STDS/HIV from their private/personal sex lives.
Unless someone in porn is ONLY doing porn and has one partner, I’m usually not surprised when someone who does gay porn, escorts, and dances ends up with HIV and am rather shocked how its blamed on porn.

@jason: This reminds me of when I met up with a coworker the other night at a bar. She was saying she liked licking other girls but she thought two men having sex was totally wrong. I wish I had the balls to say “WTF?” to her but, while I won’t lie about being gay if someone ask, I don’t make it a point to alert the media if it’s not necessary especially with a coworker.
The double standard that comes from bisexual women, and society in general, is unreal.

@McMike: Some bisexual girls can be hypocritical, but the hypocrisy from a lot of (mostly younger) straight guys is ridiculous. You know, the kind of guys who drool at the thought of girl-on-girl action and like t-shirts that say “I support gay marriage as long as both girls are hot.” But then when it comes to 2 guys, then it’s suddenly “faggots” and “wrong” and “perverted” and “disgusting.”
@jason: I agree with you 100%. In the straight porn business (heavily concentrated in the San Fernando Valley of L.A.) a lot of the male & female porn actors are represented through modeling agencies or studios. A lot of them have tightened their policies to discriminate against gay & bisexual men. L.A. Direct Models, one of the largest agencies, recently put out a statement saying that they will no longer hire or represent men who have done gay porn.
All of this apparently so that the straight porn actors can have sex, worry free, without using condoms or protection. Because we all know that only gay porn actors have HIV and other nasty diseases, and straight porn actors can never contract any STDs from each other….

Many bisexual women are vile, absolutely vile. Their bisexuality is linked to pleasing sleazy straight guys. These women need to be drummed out of society as far as I’m concerned. They are the vilest of creatures.
Of course, there are good and decent bisexual women out there. But there’s also lots of fake and whorish ones. It’s time we in the GLBT community made it a point to expose and shame the fake or whorish ones. They’re doing a huge disservice to our cause.

@Jason:
You really need to emotionally let go of whatever bad experience you had with bi women. That hatered is eating you up inside. Get some help !
You wrote we need to “drum out” these “vile” and “whorish” bi women from “society.”
That’s unclear, but still menacing.
Two questions—please answer.
What do you mean by “drum out”?
Who will determine who is to be “drummed out”?

It usually takes Months-Years for the HIV virus to show up.I have been bad mouth the AIM clinic for years now.Sharon Mitchell, the owner is a sham.I am with http://www.thepinkcross.org They help people get out of the porn industry.I am a former porn actress who has gone against the industry for yrs. now.The 40 ppl that could have been infected through him, should be extra careful the next few yrs. This is not a gay issue. As I am a gay supporter/complete fag hag/drag hag. This is an issue about the industry NOT educating their talent on safe sex/std’s.I was at the CALOSHA meeting in June 2010 and noone knew what Giardia was.The majority of the people in the business are uneducated and flat out stupid. They released the guys name, that was infected.I feel bad for him,he needs support right now.You think the porn industry sent him flowers, paid for his recent dr.bills, sent him educational pamphlets? No.They don’t care.
