Gay Surfer Film Makes Waves

The distributor releasing the surfing film Newcastle in Australia is downplaying its gay undertones. The film is about a group of surfers (one, seen left, is gay) and has been described as “boy Baywatch” and “jam-packed with hot blond Australian surfer boys.” The distributor is afraid all the gay buzz will scare way the locals coming to see their beautiful Australian beaches, not boys.

Simpletons. Beautiful beaches don’t sell movie tickets, beautiful boys do. No travelogue ever made a million dollars and packed theater seats. Sex sells, and that’s a proven fact.

Since there seems to be a shortage of quote marks, I thought it might help to clarify that the title of the movie is simply “Newcastle” not “Newcastle in Australia” or anything like that.

Great another movie playing down the “Gay”.

How tiring I hope someday gay people will just pass by any movie that feels the need to play down any same sex relationship as unimportant or not the focus of the film. But that’s the pc thing to do amongst the elite in Hollywood these days they say one thing while doing another.

I’m also sure that the fact that Mel Gibson is co-owner of the company producing it helps alot too.

Churchill-y, or could it just be that it is unimportant and not the focus of this particular film?

I am not only gay but a surfer as well. It can be lonely being gay and a surfer as I live in NYC and I have to travel all the way to Oahu and Maui to get a decent wave.

Im, confused. Why is this new? They already did a gay Aussie boy surfer film. I think it was called “Tan Lines” or something. So, why would the audience be shocked as if this is the first movie of it’s kind?

OMG! A whisper of gay! Let’s all run to the theater and stage whisper “he’s hot” over and over through the whole movie!
