Gays Love Hillary

hillarysmile2.jpg
Gene Robinson seems to be out of step with much of gay America. According to campaign contributions, the a near majority of gay voters prefer Hillary Clinton over the other Democratic front runners:

An examination of the April and July campaign contribution reports filed with the Federal Election Commission shows that LGBT support nationally seems to lie with U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York, who has garnered 48 percent of the contributions from zip codes with heavily-LGBT populated neighborhoods. Her support in these zip codes is down slightly from where it was in April, 51 percent. U.S. Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois captured 39 percent of the campaign donations from these zip codes (in April, he also received 39 percent of the contributions). And former U.S. Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina trails with 13 percent of the contributions, although he is up from just 10 percent in April.

Perhaps Clinton’s queer coalition helped boost her numbers? Or maybe gay men just like powerful women in designer duds. Either way, homos love Hil.

Northeast homos do, at least. Further examination shows that the majority of Obama’s support (76%) lies in the Midwest. Nationally speaking, Clinton, Obama and Edwards’ have respectively accumulated $231,342, $180,612 and $83,351, respectively.

I don’t understand why the gay community is so much in support of Hillary as our next president(if that is really the case) when she does not support gay marriage. Dennis Kucinich is a candidate who does support gay marriage. He and Mike Gravel are, in truth, the only candidates who support it. Let’s not vote for the lesser of evils this time around. When we surrender so much of what we truly believe in, it enables compromise politicians to create bad policy. There are not just lesser evil candidates out there, but there are also GREAT CANDIDATES like Kucinich! Let’s make our votes count! A vote of conscience is never a wasted vote.

Um, 48% is not a majority! Basic math skills, dudes!

Unless some other individual candidate received 48 to 52% of the contributions from LGBT zipcodes, then yes–48% IS a majority. Needless to say, I highly doubt there is a candidate with a higher percentage than 48%–that is an extremely high number.

Furthermore, tons of other LGBT news websites and blogs are publishing similar articles about the LGBT community’s overwhelming support of Hillary. It is common knowledge that the LGBT communities are getting behind Hillary–you should know that.

Sadly, the electorate (in general) just doesn’t research the candidates to understand just what is being offered by the “lower-tier” candidates. The electorate is not hearing from the candidates who voice their issues because the presidential race is not being run by the people, it is being run by corporate donations (i.e. the major media empires).

You will be pressed to find ANY SIGNIFICANT SUPPORT of Gravel or Kucinich–the only 2 candidates in favor of gay marriage rights–in numbers within the LGBT communities. Odd, isn’t it? If the average American only cared so much as to research ALL of the candidates and not just who media empires tell them to vote for.

I guess the main point, in response to holymoly’s, is that Kucinich and Gravel are nowhere near the LGBT support Hillary has–and that is a pure shock and shame.

It is a mistake to assume that Clinton has overwhelming support from queers because she is getting the most queer money. Most queers can’t afford to write those big checks, and her policies favor the rich over the middle class and the poor. (not as much as the GOP’s, but moreso than most of her Democratic opponents)

ok,
the reason why gays love her is because we know that she is brilliantly qualified in her plan of attack.
By saying publicly that she supports civil union, but not marriage, she is throwing a bone to both extreme sides of the democratic vote. She is merely saying that America is not ready for full-fledged marriage nation wide, which is sadly true, but is willing to push for civil union. I think that after she gets elected and doesn’t need the conservative democratic voters any more she will be the best for helping the lgbt community move forward.

What’s all this palaver about Hillary’s brillant qualifications? She is all about ambition and entitlement. She has soaring negative numbers–numbers that will only grow during the coming year. She will drag us to defeat and take down with her many tightly contested congressional races. We also don’t need a dynastic presidency, alternating for 25 years or more between two families. NO MORE BUSHES, NO MORE CLINTONS!!!

Everyone with AIDS / HIV should not vote for Clinton. Her health plan includes a $30 per month co-pay seperate from the ADAP. This means you pay it!! She is also planning to give the insurance companies MORE MediCare $$ which = LESS services. She is not going to get rid of MediCare Part D. Edwards and Obama are planning to get rid of that money grab.

I agree!! She took money from the insurance companies. Now her insurance mandate will allow insurance companies to take $150 per month from your paycheck if your uninsured. Employers can also petition to stop providing insurance to their employees. Great for the insurance companies and employers, bad for everyone else.
