Germany’s Prisoners Now Can Choose Whether They Want To Wear Women’s Orange, Or Men’s Orange

While German prisoners don’t have to wear uniforms, they are limited to gender-prescribed clothing — but not anymore. A German court just ruled they can choose whether they want to wear men’s or lady’s clothing after a transgender woman (not man, Reuters) sued because she was forced to wear dude garb. The prison argued security concerns supersede her gender identity needs, because cross-dressing could make a prisoner a target; the court disagreed.
