Get Down On Gay For Pay Films

Playing gay ain’t taboo. In the past two decades, the world’s seen countless movies in which straight actors play gay men.

Brokeback comes to mind, of course, and Plata Quemada, but there’s a slew of other cinematic gems worth a looksie. Gay Wired selected a few of their favorites, including The Sum of Us, starring Russell Crowe and Jack Thompson. We’d never heard of it, so we’re sending a big “Thanks, mate!” You should do the same.

Never heard of The Sum of Us? That’s blasphemy! Your gay card is REVOKED!

Saw this years ago. Good movie. You’d never see something this normal made in the US. Another good Aussie film is Violet’s Visit with David Franklin who was in the TV show Farscape (not gay) also filmed in Australia with the very hot (but not gay) Ben Browder.

I should mention that Violet’s Visit is about a gay dad, his estranged teen daughter and the gay dad’s lover.

Brokeback Mountain’s two stars are straight playing gay? Queerty, you are 50% correct.
