Homo-journo Doug Ireland ain’t feeling Hillary Clinton‘s dark politics: “With the morally tone-deaf defense of Ferraro’s racism by the Clinton campaign, those men and women from our LGBT communities have an imperative duty now – to remember that human rights are indivisible, and emphatically reject Clintonian racism by supporting Barack Obama.” [GCN]

Get real Doug Ireland. Samantha Power called Hillary a monster (and admitted to BBC Obama’s been lying about his troop withdrawal plan), and Ferraro said Obama wouldn’t be doing as well if he weren’t black. Both candidate apologized.
This is of course without considering the truth that if Obama weren’t black, he would not be getting 90% of the black vote (conversely, Clinton would be getting 60-70% of the black vote) and he would not have won the southern states that have pushed him ahead in pledged delegates.
CitizenGeek
Mike is right. Doug Ireland seems a little too biased when it comes to Barack Obama. Plus, he seems to be forgetting that Obama invited an actively homophobic bigot, McClurkin, to rally the vote in South Carolina? Why is that ok, but stating a fact (it IS a fact that Obama would not be getting the enormous black vote that he is getting if he wasn’t black; and Clinton wouldn’t be doing so well with women if she herself was not a woman) is wrong? Get real, Doug Ireland.
Jamie
I must say I’m happy to see from these early commenters that not everyone is swallowing Doug’s tripe so quickly. Me either.
It isn’t inherently racist to simply admit that race is a factor in this, er, race, but that’s how the anti-Hillary crowd loves to spin it!

As usual the militant leftists in the gay community lead with lies and distortion. Jesse Kern has NEVER been a part of the homosexual lifestyle. When he was younger he struggled with his gender identity and fought same-sex desires which conflicted with his faith. Now he successfully resists those impure impulses through a celibate life of metaphysics and spirituality. Homosexual men and women would be smart to look at Jesse’s example of self-restraint and the possibilites of change in our increasingly immoral world:

I thought I had seen the bottom of the bottom feeders among the Obamoonies but the hysterical, dare is say retarded equating of the “3 AM†ad with “Birth of a Nation†is a low no atomic submarine could reach. Even if it weren’t a part of the Swift Boat the Clintons As Racists armada that the Obama campaign has repeatedly launched and Ireland has swallowed like a tall, cold glass of Barackberry Kool Aid on a hot Guyana summer day. See what he used to think below before he got drunk on what his supporters ACTUALLY call “Obama juice.”
There ARE differences re LGBTs between H & O.
Sen. Clinton never lied & said she was a “chief cosponsor†of and “passed†an LGBT rights bill as Obama blatently has.
She hasn’t misrepresented her position on so-called states’ rights and DOMA as he has. According to his advisor Lawrence Tribe, Obama knows that “Same-sex couples… are neither better nor worse off with DOMA repealed†and would still support a state’s right to ban any kind of gay union after repeal. – ABC News.com 8/11/07
Sen. Clinton hasn’t put forth a 64-page “Blueprint for Change†as Obama has in which not one syllable about LGBTs can be found.
She hasn’t promised to consult the Pentagon about DADT as Obama has.
Sen. Clinton would increase AIDS funding by at least $20 billion; Obama only proposes $5 billion more.
She hasn’t lectured gays as he has about how unimportant semantics should be, how ungrateful we are for his superior kind of civil union, though there is not evidence he would trade his marriage for one of our civil unions.
When told that her initial condemnation of Gen. Pace’s “homosexuality is immoral†comment was too mild, Sen. Clinton apologized and reinforced it. But when BEGGED by gays black and white to remove McClurkin from starring in his campaign rally, Obama refused. When begged to at least denounce McClurkinisms like gays “are trying to kill our children†at the concert, Obama refused. He still only “disagrees†with McClurkin while having “denounced†Farrakhan. Obviously Obama takes antiSemitism more seriously than homohatred. Tell that to Judy Shepard, the parents of Lawrence King, ad nauseum.
One could go on but it was put best by Doug Ireland himself months ago. If he hadn’t since been assimilated by the Obama Borg he might remember the truth he wrote then:
“Obama compounded his betrayal of the gay community by refusing to dump the homohaters. Obama’s cynical, vote-seeking gamble that he can pander to Southern bigotry by campaigning with the anti-gay gospel trio while mouthing pro-gay platitudes, and get away with it, shows that he’s just a bloviating empty suit from the Windy City.â€
Dear Doug, You were right the first two times.

Even though he has accused me of being a “race-baiter” because I unashamedly call attention to the doublespeak and double standards of race relations in this country, and the historic lack of loyalty of the black community to their non-black supporters (and their inherent lack of integrity thereof), I cannot help but read every word that he says. Like him or not, like what he says or not, he’s always SPOT ON.

I refer to Michael Bedwell in my previous post, btw.

Michael Hirsh in his column this morning quotes the following nursery rhyme as relevant to the Democratic Primary campaign (and as evidenced in the vitriol on display on this and other Hillary v Barack Queerty postings, it cuts way too close to the truth):
“There once were two cats of Kilkenny/Each thought there was one cat too many/So they fought and they fit, and they scratched and they bit/Till excepting their nails and the tips of their tails/Instead of two cats there weren’t any.”
et voila: President McCain.
Michael Bedwell
Gosh, Abracadaver. Thank you, I think. : -)
I don’t recall the particular discussion you mention [which is not to say it didn’t happen], but if I failed to make clear then, let me try now.
I absolutely believe that, while we have come a long, long way from the time when I watched film on the evening news of black [and white] civil rights demonstrators being beaten earlier the same day, there is still a great deal of racism in the US. While I think that, in terms of this election, all other things being equal, sexism might be trumping it, I am still troubled by the percentage of white Democrats who told Pew Research that they would vote for McCain over Obama which has to be much attributed to racism.
L.
I cannot take obama! HE is the racist! We better all do what we can to ensure Hillary wins the nomination if we want a Democrat in the white house next year. I personally would cast my first republican vote for John McCain if Obama should, God forbid, win the democratic nomination!
Doug Ireland be damned!
Hillary Clinton is the future of the democratic party and this nation!
todd
There won’t be an election anyway! So who cares?
NightHawk
Obama just lost any right to make moral claims about racism because he refuses to distance himself from his pastor, Jeremiah Wright. Check out the video:
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0308/Wright_on_film.html
If Obama’s connection to this man doesn’t do him in in the primary, then it certainly will in the general election. Defending a pastor who says “God damn America” is chum in the water for Republicans. The sharks are circling and they WILL tear Obama to shreds over this.
rickroberts
So we should reject Ferraro’s supposed racism? And embrace what pray tell? The racism of The Rev Jeremiah Wright and homophobia of Donnie McClurkin?
Ferraro is no racist, but watch that fool Wright and it will be clear that he is. How can Obama sit and listen to that poison for 20 years!

I’m so over the whole race thing being used on both sides, tbh.
He’s black, she’s white. So what?
Who’s going to make more positive changes for Americans? That includes the white, black, green, blue, pink, and every other shade of citizen in between.
Let’s get on with what really matters. This squabbling over race ain’t it.
Michael Bedwell
As much as I still hope Obama does not get the nomination for the reasons I have often outlined, I could eagerly support a joint ticket, and ABSOLUTELY would vote for him alone over McCain.
Repeat: Obama at his worst is better than any Republican at his best. Please do NOT let any Republican further stack the Supreme Court for the next 30 years!

Michael, until this Rev Wright thing, I could have accepted BO as VP. Not now. He calls this racist thug his spiritual mentor! Here’s the ABC story:

Bitch Republic
Unlike Michael, I will not vote for Obama in the general election, should he get the nom.
seitan-on-a-stick
Todd is probably most right about Bush suspending habeas corpus. RickRoberts is completely right about this Radical anti-white, anti-gay, anti-American preacher Rev Wright has just lost Obama the Presidential ticket or we will have Prez “Bomb Iran” McCain. God Damn America, Reverend??? Barack is so toast and marginalized now by this radical cleric. Even Hillary may have to kick him to the curb as VEEP. This is MUCH too BIG! Come back to the “Bitch”! At least we know her dirty laundry, already. Madame Clinton is the only candidate to be able to get the Democratic White vote now that this huge BOMBSHELL has dropped. No Theocracy in the White House!
Jason
Get off Hillary, she has taken more crap than anyone else in political recent history. She is not a racist, I personally feel that Obama should feel lucky to be who he is in this time and place. But come on how many sexist things have been said about her? For goodness sake she was called a monster by his campaign, and to top it off the media is who has turned this into a race game not Hillary. To top it all off Obama’s own preacher, preaches about how 911 was our own fault, and how blacks are so obressed… And how rich white people are these awful people, it truly is a shame.
hisurfer
I think some of you guys have made macros out of your comments; they’re always the same. E.g.: Stop posting the link to the preacher’s video, Rickroberts. Once was enough. What is this, the twelfth time you’ve posted it in the past couple days? We get it.
Meanwhile, I don’t have an imperative duty to vote for any of these punks.
The irony of all this is, Obama wasn’t even “black” until he moved to Chicago. He was raised in Hawai`i (a multi-culti place where the majority are mixed-race) by a free-spirited hippie mom who later took him to live in Indonesia. This whole “I was raised by a single mom and was on the path of destruction that so many black youth are on until Jesus saved me” is a created identity. It is not one he was born with.
I wish he would acknowledge it more, instead of trying to pretend he came up through the hood. I like the real Obama, the one with the crazy wild childhood, the one who scattered his mother’s ashes from an O`ahu beach, a lot more than this fictional one I see on my tv.
qjersey
Obama is playing the race card by refusing to be vocally and emphatically LGBT inclusive because he is cowering to the homophobia of the black community and by refusing to mention that he is half white and was not raised in the “ghetto,” which has sadly and wrongly has come to represent “black” culture by both blacks and whites.
Tyler Perry should have ran for president!
Mike
Qjersey, get your facts right. Obama has repeatedly gone into black churches and preached for the support of LGBT rights. This is well documented–google search it. He also regularly invokes gay and lesbian issues in his speeches. (There were 3 mentions in the during the Kennedy endoresement alone.) Conversely, Clinton only mentions LGBT issues when she is in front of a gay audience.
Also, he has never denied that he is half white. In fact he has likened gay marriage to the fact that when his parents were married interracial unions in many states were still illegal.
The kool-Aid that’s being swallowed here is that the gay community somehow things Hillary will be a champion for their causes. Let us not forget the first Clinton administration left us with DOMA and DADT. Hillary will sell the LGBT community down the river as soon as it is politically convenient to her. THis is how she has run her entire political career-caring more about how she comes across to certain demographics than actually standing up for any real principals. And she’ll do and say anything to win.
Scott
The fact of the matter is both candidates have supporters who have said some pretty racially offensive remarks and both candidates have distanced themselves from those people. In every campaign there are going to be people who shoot their mouths off inappropriately–the difference is how the candidates deal with that. To be fair here–Obama distanced himself from the reverend long before this video was in the spotlight and it took Clinton an excruciating 3 days to say anything about Ferraro’s comments.
Mike
Wow, 24 comments and only 1 anti-Hillary comment!
Leland Frances
Mike, even your version of Google must be drunk on “Obama juice” (yes, that’s what his posse ACTUALLY began calling it years ago). Please document, that is, provide links to, when he has “repeatedly gone into black churches and preached for the support of LGBT rights.” It’s a myth that HE’S dishonestly, willfully perpetuated.
How about just three instances? And the RULE is that it has to be EXPLICITLY about LGBT RIGHTS…not just that “and in the Red States, yes, we have some gay friends” as he said [and ALL he said] in his 2004 Dem Convention speech which millions totally MISREMEMBER, nor simply saying we shouldn’t be “blamed” or “scapegoated” for whatever as he frequently does with NO mention whatsover of repealing laws that make us second-class citizens or opposing new ones. The latter ONLY comes in ANSWERS to questions in debates or interviews or rallys [such as in TX] and SEN. CLINTON HAS REPEATEDLY DONE THE SAME THING.
And, despite the sainthood he’s been put on the fast track for after saying at MLK’s church we shouldn’t be “scorned” but “embraced” GROW THE FUCK UP if you think that’s any big thing. I don’t need more hugs, you straight sanctimonious asshat [Obama, not you] . But there are countless Queens for Obama who will SWEAR he said, “fight for gay rights†or “end homophobia†because—just as he admitted in his book two years ago—his greatest talent has always been being a “blank slate†upon which people could project whatever they want. Gays listening to that speech could “hear†“gay rights”…homophobes could “hear†“hate the sin love the sinner”….etc., ad nauseum. Do you have ANY evidence Donnie McClurkin hates gays any LESS than he did before Obama paid for his concert cum campaign rally; that he’s STOPPED believing we’re “trying to kill” children?
The Kennedy endorsement? Please document those “three times†and the exact words he allegedly used. I remember ONE reference, something about no more “black versus white, old versus young, straight versus gay”….which was NOT in the printed version of the planned speech released before he spoke. No dummy he, he ONLY added it because he spoke AFTER Kennedy did and Kennedy had mentioned gays.
And, oh, yes, he’s referenced his parents’ once illegal marriage and then said gays STILL don’t deserve marriage equality. How could even YOU possibly have heard anything else?
Conversely, just ONE example of Sen. Clinton mentioning “gay rights†EXPLICITLY was before NINE THOUSAND Iowans at their annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner in November. Let me see, would you agree that at least 8000 of them weren’t likely to be gay.
And then there are the many times SEN. CLINTON has DISPLAYED HER SUPPORT for GAY EQUALITY before MORE nongays than Obama EVER has….every time she has marched in the open air and bright sunshine of New York City’s Gay Pride Parade, once even when she was First Lady….knowing full well that photos such as those below and videos could be used AGAINST HER by the Right Wing some day.
“With pulsating music, the gyrations of scantily clad dancers and the echoing thunder of cheering spectators, hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers gathered yesterday to celebrate a year of concrete progress in the gay rights movement.
BUT NONE OF THE POLITICIANS OR NEARLY 300 OTHER GROUPS PARTICIPATING IN THE PARADE GARNERED ANYWHERE NEAR AS MUCH ATTENTION AS MRS. CLINTON, WHO HAPPENED TO BE BEHIND A GROUP CALLED THE RADICAL FAERIES, WHICH FEATURED A MAN ON SKATES WHO WORE NOTHING BUT A SILVER CAPE, A TIARA AND A JOCKSTRAP, WAS SO POPULAR THE POLICE HAD DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING THE CROWD. SOME PRESSED AGAINST BARRIERS TO TRY TO GET CLOSE TO HER, AND OTHERS THREW CONFETTI FROM FIRE ESCAPES AND WINDOWS. TOGETHER, THOUSANDS APPLAUDED AND AT TIMES EVEN CHANTED HER NAME AS SHE PASSED, SMILING AND WAVING.†– NY Times, June 2000
Contrast that to Obama refusing to be photographed ONCE with ONE STRAIGHT MAN symbolizing FULL equality for gays—San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom even after Newsom had raised money for Obama’s Senate campaign.
I rest my case.

I respected Hillary until about 2 weeks ago when her campaign and her surrogates starting using the Rove-Morris playbook of fear-mongering and personal-smear tactics. Her campaign will do anything to win, including dividing the democratic party, demonizing Obama and his supporters across the country and destroying the Party’s chance to win in November just so she can say, “I told you so.”
I am exhausted by the Clinton/Bush politics of the last 20 years. Plus, even though I adored Bill, he threw us under the bus with DADT and DOMA.
I do not trust Hillary to do what’s right in regard to LGBT issues if it doesn’t serve her politically.
Leland Frances
Jeff, the historical facts re DOMA and DADT are a little more complicated than reduction to “Bill Clinton threw us under the bus.” Neither were his creations, and Congress would have overridden his vetoes regardless. Does he get NO credit for having tried to stop the military’s decades of banning gays before Congress shoved DADT down his throat 15 YEARS ago?
Gays should be far more concerned about the tire tracks we still bear from OBAMA throwing us under the “Donnie McClurkin Gays Are Trying To Kill Our Children Bus” just five MONTHS ago. Obama was solely in charge. No one could have vetoed his decision to repeal McClurkin’s invitation after he was BEGGED by black and white gay activists to do just that. But Obama REFUSED and the gospel show/campaign rally during which Donnie McClurkin screeched “God delivered me from homosexuality” that Obama paid for went on! Why?
And then Obama tried to smile fuck us with “I strongly disagree with Rev. McClurkin” [which he refused, when asked, to say to McClurkin’s audience that night] but has “denounced” Louis Farrakhan. Why is antiSemitism more reprehensible to Obama than homohating? I bet Judy Shepard might like to hear the answer to that question.
Rather than still crucifying Sen. Clinton for things her husband did/did not do all those years ago why aren’t you holding the person accountable who betrayed gays during THIS election and is actually on the ballot: Barack Obama.
Jamie
Alright, you GO LELEAND FRANCES!!
