Valérie Trierweiler, a French political journalist and President François Hollande’s partner of seven years, has accepted the invitation of her very close gay friends to participate in their wedding.
”I’m delighted that I’m going to be a witness at one of the very first marriages for all,” Trierweiler said.
Trierweiler’s predecessor, former First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy recently gave her own endorsement for gay marriage in an interview with Vogue, saying that she sees “nothing unstable or perverse in families with homosexual parents.”
Hollande and his cabinet have tried to fast-track the path towards marriage equality but have faced opposition from conservative and religious groups, as well as protests throughout the nation.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Nevertheless, the main debate to introduce same-sex marriage legislation is scheduled for February.
