GOProud, the laughing stock of rationale thinking homosexuals, has endorsed Rep. Mark Kirk (pictured, left) for Illinois Senate, the man who knows not a single gay soldier. The endorsement comes under a week before Kirk’s supporters will try to elect him, proving even political queers operate on Gay Standard Time. GOProud’s natural foe the Human Rights Campaign awoke in June to find itself regretting its endorsement of Kirk, and switching to back Democrat Alexi Giannoulias (right).
GOProud is making the mistake of thinking that they are republicans first and gays second.
Their job isn’t to shill for and give cover to anti-gay candidates. Their job is to try to push for gay inclusion in the GOP. With a candidate like Mark Kirk, just hold back your endorsement. Endorsing him sends the message that his positions on gays are ok and ends up hurting any chances to get candidates to accept you.
Why should they be pro-gay? Even if they aren’t you still endorse them anyway.
