GLAAD Takes On Scott Caan
Caan Apologizes For Faggot Slip

scottcaan.jpg
Proving themselves to be relevant, the media watchdog group GLAAD has successfully petitioned actor Scott Caan to apologize for calling a pesky paparazzo a "faggot".

TMZ caught the actor's tacky rant yesterday, when Caan said,

I saw you shooting me while I was eating a cheeseburger. Fucking jack-off. I'll give you a thousand dollars to come fight me, how about that? $2000. $2500. Ten grand if you'll fight me. Get a real job, you faggot.

Though GLAAD president Neil Giuliano sympathized with Caan's plight, he and his were deeply offended by his "dehumanizing remarks". As if paparazzi are human!

Fearing the gay wrath, Caan readily agreed to issue his personal apologies through his personal publicist:

I am sorry for using such a derogatory word. I was being harassed by a paparazzi and, unfortunately, the word slipped out. I don't ever condone the use of that word and I deeply apologize to anyone whom I may have offended.

Yes, but did you apologize to the poor, defenseless paparazzo?

I always thought Scott Caan was gay. I really do believe that it was a heat-of-the-moment insult, and I especially love the part where he's quoted as saying "I don't ever condone the use of that word…." I still think he plays for our team, so no harm done. Love you Scott!

umm… hey GLAAD: not a single LGBT issue was brought up in last night's democratic debate. do you really think that going after celebrities attacking the frustrating paparazzi should be your focus of the day?

GLAAD has spun off into being a Hollywood paaparazzi of a different sort. They are obsessed with celebrities and notlawmakers.

I'm a gay man. I'm not offended by his outrage at the paparazzi. If you can, get word to him…

Suggest him trying using "a$$hole." It offends everyone you're addressing it to, but doesn't seem to offend anyone in the general population. Add the usual "F*cking (otherwise known as the "other" "F" word) adjective and it intensifies the statement.

Long live Mr. Caan!He may just be a real actor someday.

Why are some of you letting this guy off easier for saying "faggot" than you did Isaiah Washington? Never mind, I know why.

(1) scott caan is pretty, and pretty people are always allowed one out. in actuality EVERYONE should be allowed one out anyway (let he without sin cast the first stiletto…).

(2) when it comes to the paparazzi, they tend to be suffocating and the pressure they cause can wear a person… bringing out the worst.

(3) i think what he said was wrong, and he should have apologized, i just dont think Glaad needed to waste their valuable time on this.

(4) isaiah washington not only dropped the f-bomb, he outed T.R. Knight because of it, and then later in a GROUP emmys interview, he denied even saying it… and then dropped the f-bomb AGAIN… ON CAMERA. he then bitched at T.R. Knight publicly, saying he should have been fired.

(5) james caan (daddy) is a cool as shit bad ass… i think we can allow his son some leeway just once.

Zack - he said it in a moment of anger. He apologized, and he wasn't saying it to a gay man. Yea, it wasn't nice, but what do you want him to do? Walk down Sunset Boulevard in a hair shirt, ripping out chest hair?

washington was a serial offender, he used the f word, at work and unprovoked, he outed someone, he made fun of using it in public.
this guy lost his temper at an asshole and immediately apologized.
also, he is rough trade.

what a dumb ass, washington used the f-word in the heat of the moment when he was fighting that fool mcdreamy, so stop making excuses for caan. BE FAIR, you can't complain ONLY when you HATE the person, HYPOCRITES

Because he is the pretty boy son of a famous movie star he has been allowed a career in the spotlight that millions of wannabes would die for - a career that has been undistinguished for the most part. Doubtless he grew up in the reflected glare of the paparazzi and could have chosen to pursue a less visible career. He knew what he was getting into so he should get over it.

Personally I'm appalled at all this rationalization that something said in anger is justifiable. I don't think so. Rub someone the wrong way is the best way to get them "to stop being polite and start being real" (with apologies to the Real World).

Just because someone is pretty/handsome enough that you want to penetrate them doesn't stop them from being an a**hole in the non-biological sense of the word.

Slipped out? That means the word is just sitting there, front of mind. To have to be aware of what you say — to hold pack prejudice, how sad.

johnosahon if you can't see the difference between isaiah and this situation then there is something wrong with you. Stop the special pleading.
The ability to make distinctions is the mark of intelligence not of prejudice. Again, he called Knight a faggot while fighting with someone else! He made fun of the whole situation on tv after supposedly apologizing! And he used violence at work against a co-worker. That alone would get someone fired at most places of work.

Alan - I never heard of this guy until this post. And the papparazzi are really annoying to these celebrities. Tehy invade their privacy. I can understand why someone would lose his temper.

#1. Isaiah Washington was a big deal because he was on the hit show "Grey's Anatomy" at the time. Scott Caan… he's in movies with David Arquette and James Van der Beek.

#2. So what if it just slips out? When I get angry at people, words slip out that I normally use. I have never had a totally foreign word slip out of my mouth. I've never called somebody a mooncricket on accident. I've never accidentally dropped the n-bomb. You know why? Because I don't normally use those words. The fact that it just "slipped out" leads me to believe that it's a common word in Mr. Caan's vocabulary.

To poster Zack: Oh come on dude. Give that racist shit a rest already. Washington said what he said, period. He deserved to be shot down and kicked out. And yeah, he's black. That should excuse him from being chastised for his actions? I don't think so. What Scott Caan said is not right, but he didn't say it directly to and as with anywhere near the hate and demeaning as Washington did. Truth is, Washington is not only a homophobe, but he's a racist too!
