God Is Dead, Long Live The Gay

America’s totally doomed. Or, that’s what conservative Christian preacher John MacArthur wants his God fearing flock to think. The Bible-thumper – who runs California’s Grace Community Church – claims God has abandoned our beloved country, an abandonment that will no doubt lead to all of our hellish destruction.

Like all things, God has a plan for our collective demolition, too:

The first thing that happens in a nation when it has been abandoned by God is a sexual revolution. Moral sexual perversion, pornographic desire describes the general character of the culture.
…
The first thing that you look for in a society if you’re trying to discern whether God has abandoned that society is whether or not that society has gone through a sexual revolution so that illicit sex, adultery, every form of immorality is accepted as normal in that society. And we’re there… You know a society has been abandoned by God when it celebrates lesbian sex… So you follow a sexual revolution with a homosexual revolution. And homosexuality becomes normalized.

MacArthur went on to say that after God abandons a people, he sends down a little wrath, like AIDS.

Now, are we the only ones who are confused? MacArthur seems to be claiming queers are a byproduct of God’s abandonment. Does that mean there were no gay people before? Are we just innocent victims in all of this? If so, shouldn’t MacArthur employ some of his Christian love and offer gays a helping hand? Most importantly, why did God abandon us in the first place? Why, God, why?!?
