Once the ink was dried on GOP Senator Rob Portman’s op-ed backing marriage equality because his son was gay, the media went into overdrive asking other Republican politicians if they’d do the same.
One who wouldn’t is Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) who told MSNBC that though he respects Portman for coming forward, he himself wouldn’t be capable of changing his view on marriage—even for a gay child.
“I would love them with all of my heart, all my heart, absolutely…I just believe in traditional marriage, that’s what i believe in. And I believe somebody who is gay can still be very happy and thrive and we want nothing with but the best for them. I don’t want to discriminate against them, but I just happen to believe in traditional marriage.”
And we just happen to think you’re a huge tool, Mr. Chaffetz.

Should his son perish while in a relationship with a legally unprotected spouse, Chaffetz will likely be the kind of guy who takes the house and all of the belongings. Devastatingly backwards mindset. He loves politics with all of his heart, not his son.

The media is sadistic, having Chaffetz on all the time. He’s creepy as hell. Just looking at him makes my skin crawl.

So only hetero’s are allowed the joy to fulfill the root desire, a root instinct that’s put inside virtually every human being? The fundamental root to be joined as one with the one they love? That gays should just suck it up deal with this void of loneliness? A loneliness that goes directly against this fundamental root desire and instinct within virtually all humans? This is selfishness at its worst.

My sympathies to his children.

He will eat it.

Queerty of course left out that Chafitz is a convert to the LDS (Mormon) church and is parroting their line.
Oh, and that his father is a big gay rights advocate. So what we are dealing with here, is another bigoted Mormon, spouting the church doctrine, who also has issues with his daddy.

@Cam: They’ve addressed you directly now, the next step is the deleting of your posts and eventually your account taking a concrete swim.
There is no doubt that Queerty has a Pro-mormon agenda. These articles are taken and deliberately edited before posting here to remove items relating to mormons in a negative light, which they should as they are the enemy of America and everyone in it.

This kind of attitude is what is shrinking Republicans to a ghost party. I say good riddance.

I’ve stopped being surprised that these idiots can’t see the internal contradictions in their own statements — if you want your son to be happy and want what’s best for him, how can you deny him the one thing that will make him happiest? Because of your religious beliefs? Time to find a new religion that’s more about love and less about rules.

Hunter, Better yet, separation of church and state would be appropriate. Dips can rule themselves up royally and I couldn’t give a damn what they eat, don’t eat, kiss, don’t kiss, marry, don’t marry, that’s their thing, but when they take their twisted beliefs and try to make all of the country follow them, that is where it has gone too far. Get out of politics and open up your own little Mormon shack in the sand, Chaffetz, but leave us out of it, you spurious, counterfeit cultist! I don’t want to live under your religious beliefs, you fucktard. (I rarely use this word, a word I learned on Queerty back in 2008, but it very much applies to this clown.) Mormons, fly away to the planet Kolob and leave the U.S.A. alone, freaks.

Jason Chaffetz, you don’t have to change your belief for yourself because that is all you know is you. Stop forcing who you are on the rest of us. I was brought up a Morman in Boise, Idaho, I witnessed “The Fall of ’55” which 9 out of 10 were gay/closeted Mormans. I am a gay man who has been with my partner for 51 years, married for almost 9 years. I am a Navy Vet, a retired software engineer and I have paid my Federal, State, Social Security, Medicare, and property taxes. Equality is a civil issue, not a religious issue. It applies to all US Citizens.
