PRODIGAL SON

GOP Rep. From Utah Wouldn’t Back Marriage Equality Even If His Son Came Out

Once the ink was dried on GOP Senator Rob Portman’s op-ed backing marriage equality because his son was gay, the media went into overdrive asking other Republican politicians if they’d do the same.

One who wouldn’t is Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) who  told MSNBC that though he respects Portman for coming forward, he himself wouldn’t be capable of changing his view on marriage—even for a gay child.

“I would love them with all of my heart, all my heart, absolutely…I just believe in traditional marriage, that’s what i believe in. And I believe somebody who is gay can still be very happy and thrive and we want nothing with but the best for them. I don’t want to discriminate against them, but I just happen to believe in traditional marriage.”

And we just happen to think you’re a huge tool, Mr. Chaffetz.
