Graduating With Ellen: ‘When You’re Older, Most of You Will Be Gay’

Never have such sarcastic words been so encouraging! While fellow funny lesbian Wanda Sykes enjoyed President Obama as an audience, New Orleans native Ellen DeGeneres scored a much less temperamental crowd at Tulane University. Speaking to the “Katrina Class” (these students were freshman when the hurricane hit), Ellen was funny, yes, but also qualified: Who can speak seriously about extreme failure and extreme success better than this girl?

So glad this is on video– I was there to hear my friends sing the alma mater and give the commencement address, but in this great ceremony Ellen was a major highlight. Really relates the experience to what everyone in New Orleans understands. (I’m also the one who yells “can’t wait” after she says everyone will grow up to be gay. She laughed! Wow.)
