Grand Theft Auto Mixes Violence + Gay Club Anthems for The Ballad of Gay Tony

What, you thought video game makers weren't faithfully exploiting the gays for profit? Then you haven't been paying attention to Rockstar's fictional Liberty City episodes, which attempt to flush out entire plotlines from the game.

The latest, Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony, zeroes in on nightlife impresario Tony "Gay Tony" Prince, who rides around in helicopters, apparently. As Joystiq so cutely notes, the disc will "sashay" into stores Oct. 29. Surely the Parents Television Council is going to lose its shit over this, right?

Jesus Christ, Queerty! If they're not putting us in games, that's bad, but when they do, you call it "exploiting the gays for profit"? Make up your mind.

I would have to say this one is not exploitative. Rock Star has been one of the few developer's to include gay characters and gay themes. While there still isn't any "non-gay" in their plots, it's still a big deal for a label that is so big in the usually homophobic demographic to continually push the envelope and the issue onto their own customers.

I applaud this effort and I cannot wait to play the latest story in the naked Liberty City.

P.S.
Tony doesn't fly around in helicopters. You don't play Tony Prince, you play his go-to-guy (not that kind of go-to-guy). His straight, hulking bodyguard of a thug. Shh, don't tell the breeders; I want them to think you play a homosexual for as long as possible.
