In the early hours of Valentine’s Day, a 36-year man, having left the gay bar The Black Cap in London’s Camden district with two friends, was stabbed in his chest and neck by a young man who, after asking the man “Are you gay?” and walking away, returned with a blade. Police, investigating the attack as a “homophobic incident,” have picked up four men, ages 17-19, on suspicion of attempted murder. The victim is in stable condition.
@thematics: “Guns could help, but even a brief self-defense course can be a lifesaver. Learning what to watch out for, say and do can help keep someone from becoming a statistic.”
That’s true. Martial arts show that size, strength or even number aren’t as important as training and attitude. Knowing what to do and having a plan can defeat the forces of chaos.

You can’t just buy a weapon, start carrying it around, and think you’re safe now. In an attack, things happen so quickly and you have only seconds to react. If your first reaction isn’t to pull out your gun, you’re probably going to forget it’s even there until it’s too late. And if you’re not well-trained in the proper use of your gun, you’ll probably just end up accidentally shooting yourself or someone you care about.
I second thematics and Kev C: know how to use your own body – and your brain – to protect yourself.

That’s why we should be armed, we are constantly bullied and attacked. We should carry switchblades or guns for self defense.
