The Conservative Political Action Conference doesn’t want GOProud queering up its annual meeting. And so today GOProud executive director Jimmy LaSalvia met with CPAC President Al Cardenas to beg for entry. How did the meeting go?
Well let us put it this way… seeing as Al’s wife doesn’t like homos shoving their lifestyles in peoples’ faces, the meeting went as badly as one might expect. Oh Jimmy… you are a glutton for punishment. Of course, we watching call it “funishment.”

Mr. Enemabag Jones
Somehow they’ll blame all this on liberal gays.
David C
For what it’s worth, I say we submit LaSalvia and La Cardenas to a cage match. Let them tear each other to shreds. No matter who loses, WE all win.
Dennis
Awww…spend your life and your money cozying up to homophobers and haters, while doing absolutely NOTHING to advance the rights and legal protections of LGBT people…in fact often working against the rights of gay people.
and then the crowd of haters that you’ve bent over backwards for (ahem) dumps you in the trash like so much dog shit…fitting, I’d say. Sometimes, people get EXACTLY what they deserve.
David C
@Dennis: True, true, true.
inoits2
Hey they are doing a great job. Seems there is a growing CPAC boycott movement of “real” conservative who object to GOProud being banned. They are now creating a divide with infighting. Go GOProud. Excellent.
zrocqs
@inoits2: Nah! “Real” conservatives might object, but real conservatives always toe the goosestepping line. They’ll get their harumph on the record and then return to business as usual.
tjr101
This must be the gay left’s fault!
Ian
@Dennis: True indeed.
inoits2
Jimmy and Chris are hot and tough! It’s refreshing to see gays that are extreme right as opposed to the hysterical left. These guys have balls and they know what they’re doing. They are fiscal conservatives but they also don’t think we need government telling us who to love. GOProud being banned will blow up in CPAC’s face …wait and see.
Tim W
@inoits2: Ha ha ha!!!! That is the funniest thing I’ve heard all day. This is satire right. Oh it’s not??? My bad.
Ian
@inoits2: Hopefully you’re right that it will blow up in CPAC’s face. After that, let’s hope GOProud implodes into nonexistence. They love to dance with the devil and it does us no good in the long run. The far right conservative GOP will never be on the side of gays. Never.
Cam
@inoits2:
The days of the GOP being able to claim the label of fiscal conservatives is long gone. We had a surplus under Clinton and Bush blew that up. He increased spending to the point where the economy collapsed within 8 years of him taking office (And remember, it happened while he was still in office)
His TARP Bailout was the largest socialistic intervention in a countries economy since the collapse of the Socviet Union.
And it continues. Boehner fighting to force the Pentagon to accept the double engine program that they said over and over that they did not need, want, and could be detrimental to their panes. McConnel fighting for earmark maintanence etc…
Oh yeah, the GOP…REALLY fiscally conservative.
Cam
Wow, I put up a comment laying out the spending boondoggles of the recent GOPers to argue the label of fiscal conservatism. There were no swear words just some recent historical facts and yet it was screened. WTF????
Shannon1981
Why don’t they just stop? All they are doing is making bigger and bigger fools of themselves.Come over to the right side, boys. And by right, I mean the left.
Skeloric
Its actually becoming damn weird to see more and more Republicans actually be worthwhile members of society.
Yeah, maybe GOPROUD are a bunch of clones of Marcus Bachmann.
Yet even so, there are actual Republicans out there finally realizing what everyone else managed to figure an entire two decades ago — that Homosexuality is NOT “Evil”.
Four republicans sided with Equality and Social Justice in New York.
Its like the republicans have finally managed to reach puberty or something.
Its an awkward time and they have much to learn about becoming adults, but they just might finally be growing up.

Word to the wise, people who do this: IT DOESN’T WORK. We are on to you.
inoits2
@Ian: I am not sure that’s true. Look at NY Senators that are very conservative. We now have marriage in NYS. They will come around and people like GOProud are helping by starting a conversation with them.
Leftist gays always act like big angry babies screaming and pouting because someone said a bad word. The only way change will happen is if there is a conversation and most queers just cut that right out. The idea being that if you aren’t for us you are against us.
inoits2
@Guillermo3: Nope..see even your response is hysterical.
inoits2
@Skeloric: I swear I am not. I think they are doing something great and they are brilliant. They have those conservatives way riled up and that’s a good thing. They are brave people.
inoits2
@Shannon1981: LOL lord. How paranoid. I am not trying to convince anyone ..I just have a view that they are not as bad as we think. They are changing conservatives minds without forcing laws onto them. Conversation changes people hearts …laws don’t. That whole Coulter thing was a perfect demonstration that she may be a tranny cow but she has a right to say what she please and they respected her right to say it….unlike the cry babies in this thread.
inoits2
@tjr101: No I am not but I would ride him all night long. Beautiful brave stud with perfect abs. You have to admit he is brave standing up against the lockstep liberal gays.
Skeloric
I don’t think having a “conversation” with Hitler would have saved 6 million lives.
Hell, the only thing that stopped that number from doubling or even tripling was all out war all across the planet.
Pretty much the only way to deal with that sort of people.
Of which the Republican conservatives damn well qualify.
Nice Sean (formerly Sean, and Sean from england.)
Until both parties support gay equality, there is always going to be some sort of struggle with the government. Sure, GOProud and Log cabin etc aren’t actually fighting for our rights (and someone pointed out, sometimes against our rights) but just having gay conservatives is a start – why should being gay mean you have to support the conservatives?
It just winds me up, I wish the gay issue wasn’t attached to a particular party, I support democrats, but if I wanted to vote for republicans, I couldn’t because of their terrible gay rights record.
Nice Sean (formerly Sean, and Sean from england.)
*made an error, second conservatives should be democrats*
zrocqs
@inoits2: “Conversation changes people (sic) hearts…laws don’t.” Yeah, but laws change their behavior. I don’t give a rat’s hoot what’s in the hearts of CPAC. I DO care that GOPac is willing to support their legal agenda in exchange for table scraps.

No. 10…absolute b.s. Republicans and that includes Civil Libertarians are far from fiscal conservatives. Since Reagan through Bush 43, they all ran up the highest deficit in the nation’s history as well as record borrowing that they refused to pay back. When was the last time republicans left the country with a net surplus? All this nonsense about hating big government is a crock of shit. Why aren’t republicans in the House and Senate declining their federally funded benefits package including health care and pensions for life after retirement? You mean to tell me not one of them is on medicare? I bet some of their parents are as well as using social security. If they’re truly interested in fiscal conservancy, why don’t they make the first effort and lead by example….drop all of their federal benefits and go buy their own health insurance, among other benefits that we don’t get? There are almost 50 million of us without any access to health care for lack of health insurance and many of us can’t afford to buy it because the premiums are so damned high. So what would a republican do if he or she lost their jobs, homes, their life savings, investments if any? How would they get health care, what is the republican plan for that?
Henry
@inoits2: So you stopped calling gay people degenerates and you’ve started calling them crybabies. You’re moving up, aren’t you?

Funny, groups like HRC have been saying that conversation line for over a decade. And yet how funny that we’ve movement only since gays started getting loud and attacking anti-gay politicians. Last vote in NY, we lost by 15 votes. Since gay groups started targeting the anti-gay senators, we won. We didn’t have a conversation with them, we threatened their livelyhood.
o
@Cam: Right on. You don’t reason with people who are anti-civil rights.

@Henry: Apparently, inioits2 sees gay liberals as week sissies and has to suck up to Chris Barron because he’s a “real man.” Apparently, unless you are working with the enemy trying to stifle gay rights you aren’t a real man. Go figure!
Henry
@Daez: So he has inadequacy issues. Nazis like inoits2 take after their leader, they all have a single ball.

After reading this thread I’m sort of appalled.
If someone you cared about was making a giant mistake – I mean a really, really HUGE one – and you didn’t want them to do it, you might argue with them, you might express your disapproval… But would you really make the same mistake deliberately in hopes of showing them how wrong it was? I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t.
When you call Barron, LaSalvia & those like them names instead of explaining your side calmly and confidently, you play right into the hands of their brain-washing masters who then say, “See? Those leftist gays will never accept you. Better to be our slave than their compatriot!”
I’m not saying anybody has to (or even should!) agree with them. No matter how stubborn they are, after running face-first into the Republican wall of hate they’ll learn their lesson sooner or later. In the meantime, we should all be sure that we’re not committing the same sins we’re attributing to them.
Ian
@inoits2: “The only way change will happen is if there is a conversation and most queers just cut that right out.” I agree with you that conversation/engagement has to happen for progress. It just hurts to watch LaSalvia (and others) bend over backwards to be “in” with far right groups that, at bottom, want to prevent progress and erase the progress we’ve made. (“at bottom” not meant as a pun) 😮
inoits2
@Skeloric: Godwin’s law, try again.
Libertarian Larry
It must be said that there is no institutionalized Republican hatred against gays—the wall we come up against is purely a religious one, not an ideological one. Likewise, there are many demographics within the Democratic party that are publicly anti-gay: blacks, muslims, hispanics, etc. And yet, some deep-seated derangement causes gay people to go ballistic when they even hear the word “Republican.” And why? Liberal indoctrination? Media bias? Mental illness? Probably it’s more a social status quo within the political realm, but keep this in mind: As long as you automatically hate those with whom you disagree, then there’s always going to be conflict and never a hope of reconcilliation, and you will always be at war. But I suspect most people—at least those posting on this wall—get more satisfaction from bitching about a situation than they do from doing something constructive to remedy the issue. Sad state to be in, but unfortunately it’s not surprising.
inoits2
@Cam: I don’t believe this. My Senator voted for the marriage and he is in a very conservative district. What it comes down to is that they represent their constituents. Just like the tea people. My district while conservative has come around and his vote reflects that. Also how are we any better than NOM attacking anti-gay politicians.
inoits2
@Libertarian Larry: Amen!
delurker
@Libertarian Larry: Yeah the CBC is sooo antigay. snerk. Religious wackos make up 90% of Republicans/conservatives. It that’s doesn’t influence ideology, I don’t know what does.
gregger
@inoits2: No, more like GOProud will blow all over some closet case Rethuglikkkan’s face.
gregger
@Libertarian Larry: Really, like when all of the “religious figures” that the RethugliKKKan party brings in to “inspire and promote the party line” don’t influence, color, pervert, or otherwise twist any mind thread?
inoits2
You all constantly harp on how you don’t care how conservatives feel. That’s a very wrong approach. You can’t ignore how a dangerous group of people feels. Laws do change behavior but they don’t change minds. It is important to do both because if the wind changes they will come back later to bite us.
I want smaller government and I don’t like hand outs to all the people sucking the teat of the US system.
Gays are always painted as a one stroke stereotype… conservatives are always are always lumped together. The fact that some conservatives are threatening to boycott over this proves they are not all the same and that my hotties are making progress.
inoits2
@Henry: Fail. Godwin’s law, try again.

@Nice Sean (formerly Sean, and Sean from england.): Hey I think Reps are getting smart. Anti-gay politics has lost it’s effect. @inoits2: Or 32 year old male Korean graduate students from the Deep South.
Erik
The GOProud members just like to be dominated and spanked. Thank you Sir, can I please have another?! lol
gregger
@inoits2: Which teat do you want people to stop sucking?
Social Security is not an entitlement, we pay into the system as do our employers.
Medicare is not an entitlement, we pay into the system as do our employers.
These are the two biggest “entitlements” that the whiner, Paul Ryan, and those who feast on his anus keep throwing around.
If you want to cut real entitlements, let’s cut OUT the free lifetime medical coverage for all members of the House and Senate, the lifetime pay for the members of the House and Senate, the free transportation for the members of the House and Senate for anything other than required government duties, free postage for all members of the House and the Senate, free printing for members of the House and Senate, the over 8 weeks of paid vacation, the unlimited personal days, the housing stipends, and the Tax Credits for the Petroleum Companies.
Now about the smaller government, under the previous presidency the size of the government workforce increased exponentially. The so-called conservatives were drunks for flushing money and talent down the toilet. To go from a $300Billion budget surplus with the nation on track to wipe out the Federal debt, of just over $5Trillion, in less than 20 years to a massive deficit and adding over $5Trillion to the federal debt is not smaller or more hands off government. This is not even to bring up the amount of new regulations, no not just the “patriot act” or “no child left behind.”
CPAC type of people supported all of the drunken spending and taxing of future generations and adding to regulations on average citizens until “that Muslim Nigerian stole the nation.” To say anything else is to be delusional, disingenuous, or a flat out liar.
Henry
@inoits2: No, calling minorities degenerate is the definition of being a Nazi.
inoits2
@gregger: No.. Medicare and Social Security are not entitlements and should not be called that. They know better than to touch it because the public would have them up a pole.
But to quote Norquist, “I don’t want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub” Wars, Bush Cuts, Bank Bailouts all are designed to bankrupt us.
I see through them. They want desperately to bankrupt government so it can’t function. They are insane and the only reason Reps turned in the debt deal is fear. They didn’t understand that not everyone wants to do that. Good ole boys have always wanted to destroy the government since the civil war.
However, smaller government is not the same as no government. Free speech, no matter how repugnant is preferable to a nanny state. Taking people’s money to pay for hand outs is theft. Yes conservatives have been high jacked by the religious right but their effect is going to wane.
inoits2
@Henry: I did not call gays degenerates. Stop saying that. I said that we have no limits to our degenerate behavior. And damn it Folsum street is degenerate, that’s my opinion.
Henry
@inoits2: You called gays degenerate before the Folsum street post.
inoits2
@Henry: STFU Nazi liar.

How fun is it to watch two trolls fighting (henry and inoits2)? With any luck, they’ll eviscerate each other and leave the rest of us behind.
If they decide to marry each other, instead, we’ll still be rid of them.
inoits2
@xander: You are a typical lockstep liberal that doesn’t believe in free speech or dissent. I will haunt this blog forever with my alternative view. Get used to it bubba. Thank god queerty allows people to disagree unlike other gay blogs.
gregger
@inoits2: Right, “their effect is going to wane,” about the time monkeys and Jimmy Hoffa fly out of my ass. The X-tian Nazis (often referred to as Evangelicals or Born agains) have been in control of the Republican party since before 1980. The Teabaggers/Kochsuckers are the same people as the X-tian Nazis. In King Ronnie the demented’s reign he grew the government, as did GHW “Poppy” Bush both of them also raised and created more taxes than they abolished and/or cut. Getting back to religion, how many times has the Republican President of the US, Republican Vice President of the US, Republican leaders of both houses of Congress gone down and metaphorically licked the balls of some idiot religious leader. All the while waving the flag and a cross and trumpeting how they are making the world safe for Democracy (which by the way the US is a Republic) instead of dealing with our own internal issues.
CPAC is doing nothing for the LGBT, GOProud is trying to align themselves with a devil they refuse to attempt to understand. How any rational person in the LGBT community can still try to deal with Fascistic people (who still hold that we were right to invade, overthrow the government of, and destroy the infrastructure of Iraq, all while telling minorities that there is no place at the table for them) is beyond explanation.
Honestly, LaSalvia and his minions come across like the Jews who worked with the Nazis in an effort to save themselves, delusional, misguided, and (in some instances) greedy
xander
@inoits2: Dissent is a good thing, a range of opinions, well-articulated fosters healthy debate and can lead to better policies. When you call GOProud “brilliant” without any basis, and fail to grasp their rejection from CPAC, you will get taken as a troll. You’re better and smarter than that, please show it.
inoits2
@gregger: Why so pessimistic. Look at all we have accomplished in terms of rights even with some xstians in power. Like it or not presidents represent the religious right too…just as they represent gays. The wars are about oil, retaliation, Israel and investment. Otherwise we would send people in to stop genocide in Africa. I think it has less to do with a xstian flag.
Telling the electorate that it is about instilling democracy is basically a way to get permission to go to war. We like the idea we are saving people from the evils of Islam. It is true that we don’t deal with internal issues so much but military is about jobs and civilian money flow, it’s a way to pump government money into the economy.
GOProud is far from stupid, they aren’t just masochists. There is a reason they exist and that is to promote true conservative values and to also agitate. They believe in chips falling where they may without the government telling people they have to employee a cross dresser that scares away employees. The Jew analogy is a bit extreme since they aren’t marching us to the gas chambers.
inoits2
@xander: I have given reasons…can’t you read? mommy may I say what I think, pretty please.
gregger
@inoits2:”The Jew analogy is a bit extreme since they aren’t marching us to the gas chambers.” Really? So when the bigots that are in CPAC pray for the death of homosexuals, say that “you will burn in the fires of Hell,” “you are degenerates,” “you are the cause of the worlds troubles,” and the gays (and marriage equality) are the reason for the all the natural disasters and catastrophes in the US they’re just talking? It sounds just like the same xenophobic horse-shit that Hitler and his Bund-buddies used to round up the Jews, “Faggots,” and Gypsies across their realm.
Like the old adage, you lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas. You sell yourself to people who hate and vilify you, then you have no-one to blame but yourself when they take you out.
inoits2
@gregger: This is true that they do say these things but in the US we have something called free speech. They can call for our deaths all the want and say we are degenerates but I can also say they are inbred and advocate murder. Isn’t that great.
However, I am not worried because our constitution and laws protects us from the gas chambers. Now if they managed to overthrow the government I would be scared. I think we worry that people aren’t smart enough to see through the propaganda. While there are many slow witted people in the US we need to give the public more credit. America eventually does the right thing.
gregger
@inoits2: We have the right to free speech but when that free speech brings violence that causes someone’s death/injury it’s usually referred to as incitement. That doesn’t stop people from trying it. Have you not realized that violence against LGBT’s is up? Why? Bigots inciting violence. I’m not saying they should STFU, but hold them responsible. To give a non-LGBT example, that hateful beast Scarah Palin using gun-sight style cross-hairs to “target” (yes her own words) Democrats (like Gabbie Giffords) take responsibility for your words.
You don’t need a gas chamber to kill LGBT’s, dragging them behind a car, crushing their head with rocks, strangling them, stabbing them, shooting them, beating them to a bloody pulp and dropping them in a river with their hands bound. This type of MURDER is a result of hate speech from assholes like CPAC. If it was the KKK saying shit like this against African-Americans the nation would be on it like white on rice, but with apologists like some of the people that support GOProud saying “free speech,” they get a free pass. Words have meaning and for every action there is a reaction. The reaction to some of the language used by CPAC is murder and other forms of violence.
Again, they need to take responsibility for their words, I’m not saying they should shut up, merely just think. If you cannot ask the people that speak for a movement to think of the impact of their words and their work, you’re in the wrong party.
inoits2
@gregger: I never said that there are not consequences for what you say. Look at Michael Richards, ruined, but I support his right to say what he said. Interestingly my nephews despise their bible thumping grandmother’s nasty anti-gay and religious speech. They are young but the hope for gays is the young that are repulsed by the language. In the future it will not be acceptable to use anti-gay language in polite circles. I will guarantee you it’s only a matter of time before being antigay will ruin your career. I can remember being mystified by my grandparents disgust at interracial marriages.
gregger
@inoits2:”America eventually does the right thing” Please tell that to the US citizens of Japanese ancestry who were incarcerated during WW2. The Rosenbaums, Ruth Gordon, and countless others who were caught up in US hysteria against one or another things.
You asked earlier “why so pessimistic?” When it comes to religious bigots telling opiated masses what to do and a political group goes along with them, I think that’s ample cause for being angry and not trusting the party. I’ve been the working for more than 30 years on the subject of LGBT equality. I’ve watched as civil rights were thrown away, both here and abroad. I’ve seen people murdered just for a glance. I had a friend’s throat slit by the friend’s new neighbor because they didn’t “want to live next to a faggot.” I was raped because “that’s what faggots deserve.” I’m not just pessimistic, I’m disgusted.
inoits2
My lord you must live in a terrible place. I am sorry all that happened and you are justified for being angry. I live in NY sate where I haven’t seen this sort of thing. I am not saying it doesn’t happen I am just saying that it doesn’t happen too much in this state. Most people are supportive of gay rights here.
gregger
@inoits2: I live in the United States. I have lived in NJ, CA, GA, FL, VA, and currently reside (again) in NYC. The stabbing that I witnessed was in NYC in the subway in the 90’s. My friend who had his throat slit was in LA. I was raped in Atlanta. The point that I have been trying to make is that when speech from quasi-religious-politicos employs hate, that hate can incite violence and it is up to us to hold those people accountable. Not to hop into bed with them as GOProud is attempting to do with CPAC.
Now as to NY, politically certainly it is a far cry from many areas of this nation but how many fag bashings do you know of that go unreported in NY? How many times do people report cars in the outer boroughs defaced with anti-gay comments? It’s not all peaches and rainbows here, there are still a great deal of bigots who are angry that they lost in June. Remember only 56% of those polled were in favor of marriage equality.
gregger
@inoits2: BTW, you never commented on what teat you want the people in the US to stop sucking on. You made a generalization. I asked you to specify and gave you two points of alleged “entitlements” that were bullshit and you never responded.
Do you care to respond to my request for specificity or just ignore it?
Now as to Michael Richards, he’s a fucking comic. We’re talking politics here and about POLITICIANS and RELIGIO-NAZIS pushing hate that results in violence, not no talent hacks who had a part tailor written for them who then get video’ed making derogatory comments in a night club act. Please stay on subject or I’ll start referring to your responses as Bachmannesque.

I’m a libertarian. I just pointed to this as evidence why I would never, ever work with the Republican Party on any issue, under any circumstance — and why nobody else should, either. Anybody who thinks this is some sort of valiant fight worth fighting is deluded. Take your support somewhere else when it’s not wanted. Stop begging for your dignity.

@Libertarian Larry: What??? Have you ever read the Republican platform? We are not to be afforded basic civil rights, let alone respect or legal equality according to… yup, The Republican Platform. And the groups to which you refer (“blacks, muslims, hispanics”)… Wow! Could you have a more Caucasian bias?? Being anti-Gay or any other sort of bias is overwhelmingly based on two (2) factors: age and frequency of church attendance. You are either stupid or ignorant by choice. Whatever the case, you are no Libertarian, Larry.
