Happy B-Day To You, Tutu!

“More than a decade after Desmond Tutu helped end apartheid, he shows no signs of slowing down as he turns 77 on Tuesday, and is still an outspoken advocate for justice in South Africa and around the globe. The retired archbishop will spend his birthday with fellow Nobel Peace Prize winner Jimmy Carter in Cyprus, to encourage reunification of the divided island.” Tutu also has a long history of fighting for gay rights. He most recently came out against his fellow Anglicans, most of whom scoff at the idea of same-sex inclusion. [Cape Argus]

They should give him another Nobel. I heard him discuss his position on the Anglican church and gay people, and he just captured everything in a nutshell. You could tell he’s a very thoughtful, spiritual, loving person. The world could use more people who try to follow his model.
