I liked Oprah's Gay Around the World show, except that it was a bit of a misnomer. It should have been called Gay Prince in Gujarati and Lesbian from Jamaica. That's all the "around the world" they discussed. John Amaechi was brilliant, however… that man is a great speaker, and terribly charming. Great! I had hoped for more coverage of being gay in MANY countries, especially those that are more advanced than the US, and being gay is a TOTALLY different experience in many places – better AND worse.
I too expected more of a global perspective on the Oprah episode. But I guess it's better than most talk-shows that would have aired, "Being Gay Around the Trailer Park."
