On Wednesday afternoon (or what some of you know as Cougar Town time) Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie signed into law the civil unions bill, making the state the seventh in the country to offer downgraded marriage rights to gay couples. “For me this bill represents equal rights for everyone in Hawaii, everyone who comes here. This is to me the essence of the aloha spirit.”
