      “”The cop who turned his back on the mob’s payoffs and led the raid, Deputy Inspector Seymour Pine, said later, “We weren’t concerned about the gays. We were concerned about the Mafia.””””

      Their reason for going was irrelevant. What did they do when they got there? They harassed, beat and arrested the gay patrons sparking the riots.

      Well, this challenges history as we know it. Sounds like conspiracy theorist conjecture.

      The point is we were considered easy prey from all sides..until that night.

      Would be fascinating to learn about any gay mobsters. Did the US have its equivalent of London’s Kray twins?

      @sejjo:
      not really
      it is common knowledge that the mafia controlled the gay (and many other) bars all over the u.s. –
      including chicago, where I live

      @sejjo: challenges history in what way? the patrons were still harassed on a regular basis whether it was setup or not. the riots happened, what the reason was is really irrelevant. what matters is that they happened and the sparked the gay movement
