While we all waited with anticipation to hear the results of Irelandâs historic vote on same-sex marriage, YouTuber Raymond Braun decided to go the extra mile. The extra thousands of miles, actually.
He flew to Dublin ahead of the Friday vote to see what progress looks like firsthand. Voters in Ireland overwhelmingly chose to change their nationâs constitution, becoming the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage through popular vote.
And it was a beautiful thing.

How about we take this to the next level?

From Ireland meself. Was an absolutely tremendous day – even for every ‘ordinary straight joe soap’ that voted yes, they were delighted too!

What a spectacular report: Raymond covered a lot of bases and this video brought me to tears of JOY! I wish everyone awesome parents like Riyadh, his dad is a role model for what it means to be a wonderful father.

Great for marriage equality. Now if Ireland can get rid of ther archaic blasphemy law and restore free speech it would be great. And if they could get rid of the exemption to nondiscrimination laws the government fought for and enacted which allow religious schools to fire gay people for “undermining ethos” – this is important to remove since for instance 95% of primary schools are run by religion in Ireland and funded with public funds. Paying taxes to be discriminated against is appalling, and being able to kick out gay kids from public-funded schools is creepy.

Look at how happy everyone is. The communal feeling and sheer joy.
Meanwhile, juxtapose that picture of places like Russia where hate and division rules the day, and mobs beat and chase people around.
How can anyone claim gays are a threat to society, when the opposite of open and free societies that support gay rights are pure hell-holes not even worth visiting?
I think the images in this video speak for itself as to which is the superior vision for society.
Go Ireland. And may there be many more nations in Europe and elsewhere to follow suit đ

Love it… to be alive during historic moments like these make me sad about the progress that will happen after my lifetime… but we’re here in the now and one more country moving into the 21st century.

Cute reporter and all. But I think by now we all know that Ireland voted Yes. It’s a shame his report doesn’t dig a bit deeper and explore the more profound significance of the result. A nation that was once deeply conservative and repressive, and blighted by the worst excesses of religion has voted for equality and humanity. It’s a joyous rejection of the values and the dogma of the Catholic Church, and a repudiation of all the evil done by religion in Ireland – and Ireland has seen the worst of it, from child sexual abuse by priests to the enslavement of girls in convent laundries. It shows what you can achieve when you throw off the shackles of religion. Over to you America.

Wonderful for the; but I noticed how queerty isn’t reporting that pope Francis and the Vatican are against this, when queerty should run an article about this.
