Things aren’t looking good for rentboy.com. In fact, they’re looking pretty bad.
In August, the company’s Manhattan headquarters were raided by the FBI and NYPD. CEO Jeffrey Hurant and six others were arrested on suspicion of promoting interstate prostitution and money laundering. The company’s bank accounts containing millions of dollars were frozen and its website was seized by Homeland Security.

Now, the company is selling its office supplies and furniture on Craigslist in an effort to raise money to pay for its mounting legal fees.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“We are selling the contents of the former offices of rentboy.com,” the ad reads. “This sale has loads of goodies.”
Some of these “goodies” include glass desks, chairs, filing cabinets, and video monitors. Other items for sale include cables, software, books, magazines, artwork, lamps, a copy machine, and “a lot of special, one of a kind rentboy.com ephemera.”
“We are trying to raise funds for our legal defense,” the ad explains, “so please consider your purchases as going to a good cause.”

Homeland Security should be ashamed they think this is relevant to their mission.

with all due respect, how much money does it take for The Rentboy Seven to plead guilty? I mean, what could possibly be “the defense” of people operating a website called RENTBOY.COM to the charges against it? Also,
It is my understanding that the parent company of Rentboy.com is Easy Rent System, Inc
If, as alleged, the government has an order to seize ALL ASSETS of Easy Rent Systems then, as I see it, all of the “property” in Easy Rent Systems’ office, at this point, belongs to The State.
There is something a little “suspect” about the ad. Technnically, one would think the ad would say former offices of Easy Rent Systems. Unless, this is actually The State auctioning off the property.
MarionPaige
Perhaps The Government abandoned stuff in Easy Rent Systems’ former office and it is the building that is now auctioning off the stuff (with the intent of giving the proceeds to the Rentboy Seven) and paying back rent. Still, I would think that if The State gets wind that there is more Easy Rent Systems assets, The State will seize those assets.

So Ashley Madison gets hacked, and right after that this site is shut down and all servers are seized and yet other sites with hookers on it are left alone.
Sounds like somebody is doing a favor for some high profile friends who had memberships to the site.

UMMM… If memory serves me right, I think that I might have all ready “owned” a couple of pieces. Even if it was only for a couple of hours.

@Victor Barry: If you give cops an opening … Lord Acton said it back in 1887: “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

@MarionPaige: Even if the RentBoy Seven are found not guilty — and if I’m on the jury: No harm, no foul — the cops will grab their money as a civil forfeiture.

RentBoy is harmless. It is disturbing that the government is wasting resources pursuing a case against these people. Now, one does wonder why they would have chosen to have their headquarters in New York, instead of a state – like Nevada – or even a country, where prostitution is legal. Just for added insurance…
