That aside why exactly are you praising these two teens and this stupid show for mocking homosexuality?

Straight teens mocking gays is nothing new, they’re the same types who’ll hunt for gay guys and kick the shit out of the “fag” on campus.

Praising them just because you find them attractive is pathetic at best. This isn’t positive.

Couldn’t agree with you more. I started working on a poultry farm in Florida at the age of 12 while still going to school and was required to hand over my entire paycheck to my father every Friday night in return for room and board, and the clothing on my back. My father was from “the old country”, you see.

I left home at the age of 14 (I had the wicked witch of the west for a stepmother) with a warning from my father, “Don’t you ever come back here and ask me for a nickel.”

Truth be known, I would have died of starvation before I even thought to ask him for a nickel. My self pride would never have let me. Hell, by the age 16, I had my own pad, a car, had money in the bank and was my own man. And, if I had it to do over again, I’d have left at 12.

I too, always thought the age of consent laws were totally ridiculous. By the age of 14, I knew who, what I was and what I wanted. The problem was, my age is what kept me from having it until I went to NYC when I as 15.

At the age of 16, I had already been “married”for a year and we remained together until my 22nd birthday. The only reason it didn’t last, was because my husband was a macho whore who lied to me and to himself, but gave everyone else, what I should have been entitled to all along.

I ahve never understood why we molly-coddle our children so in this country.

You were still a minor at 16, John. The age of consent in the UK is 16, but the age of majority is still 18. Same as in the US, where 16 is the age of consent in most states, but you don’t become a legal adult until you’re 18.

Also, in the basic sense… just exploiting the situation that is probably already uncomfortable for the principal. The are just comfortable with eachother enough to be able to do this, and have a good sense of humour about it. And yes.. playing for the camera. You don’t have to respect religion and you can fight it all you want. I’m not threatened by that. I RESPECT that we have differing opinions and I’m not stupid enough to think religion hasn’t done some major bad things. In other words I can see why it turns off a lot of people. On balance though, I think it is a positive force. You don’t, fine. It is not a problem to ME that we differ.

And you are OUT TO LUNCH on the headmaster thing. Why does he have to be Christian? PARENTS of all stripes & religious preferences – in the U.S. anyway – would have a problem with boys pawing their girls at a school sponsored dance. And unless I’m mistaken, it wasn’t the boys touching each other that was the problem – they were demonstrating the kind of touching that is or is not allowed.

Sorry matey, but the respect does not flow both ways. I combat the religious at any opportunity. – Why do the religious always say that “I respect your POV but …” thing? Is it cos they know they are standing and defending a weak position, vis a vis the sky pixie thing? I say “And that headmaster looks the creepy religious type!” not only cos the two words “creepy” and “religious” go together so well, but also because the whole reason for preventing the two teenage boys (and other boys and numerous teenage girls at the school) from touching each other is due to his FUCKING CREEPY CHRISTIAN MORALITY.

The sky pixie morality that forces its values down all our throats, whether we are religious or not, and says that sex outside of marriage is wrong, that teenage sexual exploration between teens is wrong. That being gay is wrong (you could see quite clearly that those two boys were playing on this!! and that the headmaster wasn’t sure what the fuck was going on and whether he’d have to tell them off for playing at being gay!).

No, his tie doesn’t enter into it, – the man was being a creepy christian authoritarian. And he looked at the camera as if to say, “I know you all agree with me, look how difficult it is to make kids follow our moral guidance” (ie our christian moral guidance).

He may be a really nice man, but the morality he was enforcing was not.

What the morality of our post religious world will look like, I am not sure, but I will predict that christian/islamic/judaic religious considerations will not figure in it and a whole generation will grow up not thinking sex is wrong or dirty.
