Hillary Clinton Once Opposed The State Department’s Use Of LGBT-Friendly Phrases

HillaryClinton_2326613bWhen the State Department came to the decision that passport applications would swap the terms “mother” and “father” for “parent one” and “parent two,” antigay organizations like Family Research Council criticized “the topsy-turvy world of left-wing political correctness,” Medialite reported in 2011.

The State Department defended its gay-friendly decision, and, while the Human Rights Campaign heralded the decision as “a position step forward for all American families,” it seems that none other than then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was highly displeased with the changes:

Writing to her aides, she demanded to know, “Who made the decision that State will no longer use the term ‘mother and father,’ and instead substitute ‘parent one and two’? I’m not defending that decision, which I disagree [with] and knew nothing about, in front of this Congress. We need to address this today or we will be facing a huge Fox-generated media storm led by [Sarah] Palin et al.”
