Cable Positive, which spent the last 17 years working with cable operators and networks to generate HIV/AIDS awareness, is shutting down. Officially, it's because the organization no longer serves a purpose(?!), with cable companies donating some $2 billion in free airtime over the years, and remaining committed to educating viewers about HIV risks, prevention, and treatment. The group's national office, with a staff of five, will close while local volunteer groups may remain open under the Cable Positive name.
