These guys are freaking me out! I walked out on this “church” as a teen in the 70′s about the time they miraculously discovered africans were human after all. They have an amazing ability for mass hypnosis, or amnesia or something, anything to keep a nice composed Mr Rogers style face on things. Their ability to work within scientific perameters and cunningly buffer their message will give them an advantage on gay acceptance. Here’s a PROPHECY for you… The mormon church will take small methodical steps to recognize homosexuals as loved by god, as god made them and worthy of salvation. They are having big problems with young men and women being painfully forced from their faith by their sexuality. That has been going on for generations, but my generation and those following us have been having marriaged and families ruptured by fathers and mothers coming out. This schism is creating a climate the church leaders want to contain and control. Their eventual position will probably be to “have no oposition” to domestic partnerships civilly, and to support “eternal marriages” for gay men and women for the purposse of procreation. These two ideas will allow them to accept people with different families to remain in the church and practice their faith. As things are now a statement of homosexuality and a relationship with a same gender person allows the assumption of sin (sex) that requires excommunication.

I recently read in the SL Tribune that as many as 80% of single female members of the LDS church ages 18-30 are no longer active in the church. THAT is progress! Hurrah for them for getting on with their lives. (I am a former Mormon myself.)
